About Bodwell High School

Bodwell High School is a Grade 8–12 independent day and boarding school located on the waterfront in North Vancouver, BC. We serve students from Canada and around the world, offering a globally minded learning environment rooted in British Columbia’s curriculum and focused on preparing students for university and life beyond graduation.

Bodwell is expanding its Real World Academies, including the Innovative Media Academy, designed for students who want to develop advanced skills in film, digital media, visual arts, graphic design, web development, marketing, creative communication, and portfolio development.

We are seeking a BC-certified teacher with strong expertise across media production, visual arts, digital design, marketing, and applied technology. The successful candidate will teach a full course load that may include media courses, visual arts courses, web development, business applications, marketing, and digital influence.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for a teacher who can move comfortably between the studio, the classroom, the production environment, and the digital marketplace.

The Media Academy Teacher will teach across a range of media, art, design, business, and technology-related courses. Possible areas include Film & TV, Graphic Arts, Media Arts, Media Design, Directing & Script Design, Digital Media Development, Art. Marketing and Promotion, and Web Development.

The successful candidate will help students develop both creative and strategic skill. Students should learn not only how to create media, art, and digital products, but also how to communicate with audiences, build campaigns, design for users, understand platforms, develop websites, present ideas, and connect creative work to real-world business and university pathways.

This is not a traditional single-subject teaching position. It is an opportunity to help build a distinctive academy program where media, art, design, storytelling, technology, marketing, entrepreneurship, AI, and university preparation come together.

Key Responsibilities

The Media Academy Teacher will:

  • Guide students through the creative and strategic process from concept development to finished work.
  • Help students develop university-aligned creative and digital portfolios for visual arts, design, media, film, marketing, communications, business, digital arts, web design, and related pathways.
  • Teach students how to connect creative work with audience, purpose, platform, user experience, brand, message, and measurable impact.
  • Integrate appropriate and responsible use of AI tools in creative ideation, visual design, production planning, marketing strategy, media literacy, editing support, web development, and workflow development.
  • Support students in developing technical proficiency with relevant creative, production, design, business, and web tools.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counsellors, university guidance staff, boarding staff, and school leadership.
  • Support English Language Learners and students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Contribute to a student-centred, compassionate, and globally minded school culture.
