Full job description

Art Space and Design Galleries is seeking a dependable, skilled, and detail-oriented Professional Art Framer to join our dynamic team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong eye for craftsmanship, who is passionate about the arts and capable of supporting both framing and general gallery maintenance work. You'll work closely with a team of talented professionals in a creative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Professionally frame and stretch a wide variety of artwork to gallery standards
  • Assist in the installation and display of artwork within the gallery and off-site venues
  • Handle general gallery maintenance and renovations including drywall, painting, and basic repairs
  • Safely transport artwork using a personal truck or large vehicle
  • Evaluate and interpret layout plans, cost estimates, and timelines for framing and display projects
  • Source appropriate materials for framing and ensure alignment with quality and cost standards
  • Collaborate with the gallery team to coordinate artwork handling and installation logistics
  • Provide tools and rental equipment as required to complete framing and installation projects
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Uphold all safety regulations and gallery protocols
  • Represent the gallery with professionalism and provide excellent customer service to clients and artists
  • Be available for occasional evening installations within the Calgary area

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in art framing and artwork handling
  • Skilled in general trades: painting, drywall, light repairs
  • Ability to lift and move large artworks safely
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Reliable transportation capable of moving artwork (truck or large vehicle required)
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • A keen eye for detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
