Sales & Design Assistant

Mint Floor Coverings — Calgary, Alberta

Mint Floor Coverings is looking for a personable, organized and motivated individual to join our showroom team as a Sales & Design Assistant.

This position will work closely with our Lead Designer, assisting customers with flooring, window coverings and interior finish selections for their new homes and renovation projects. It is an excellent ground-floor opportunity for someone interested in developing a career in the interior design, flooring, window covering or residential construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Designer with customer appointments and product selections
  • Help customers coordinate flooring, window coverings and interior finishes for their dream homes
  • Prepare for appointments by organizing samples, floor plans and project information
  • Read and interpret construction plans, measurements and product specifications
  • Enter and maintain accurate customer, product and project information
  • Prepare quotes, selection documents and other sales-related paperwork
  • Communicate professionally with customers, builders, suppliers and coworkers
  • Keep the showroom and sample areas organized and presentable
  • Manage multiple projects, appointments and deadlines at the same time
  • Provide general administrative and sales support to the design team
  • Develop product knowledge of flooring and window covering options, including styles, materials and applications

Qualifications and Skills

  • Friendly, professional and comfortable working directly with customers
  • Previous customer service, retail sales or administrative experience is an asset
  • Construction experience or knowledge of construction materials is beneficial
  • Experience reading floor plans, blueprints or construction drawings is an asset
  • Previous window covering experience is an asset, but not required
  • An interest in expanding your knowledge of window coverings and interior finishes
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other standard office programs
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to multitask and adjust priorities in a busy work environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn about flooring products, window coverings, installation requirements and interior design
  • Dependable, positive and able to work well as part of a team

Previous interior design, flooring or window covering experience would be beneficial but is not required. We are willing to train the right person who has a strong work ethic, a good eye for detail and a genuine interest in helping customers bring their vision to life.
