Full job description

This position located within the Production team and reports directly to the Production Supervisor. It is not a student or a LMIA position.

The employee is responsible for safe operation of the equipment to clean, grade and bag mussels and oysters.

Production Crew members are responsible to know and follow all Safety, C-TPAT, sanitation and Employee hygiene guidelines.

Key Responsibility Areas

1. Arrive in time to properly gear up and be at the work area for the start of processing

2. Operate equipment in a safe, productive manner.

3. Responsible for handling mussels and oysters a manner that will not unnecessarily stress the product.

4. It is important to handle mussels and oysters using proper procedures for the reduced chance of personal injury. This includes keeping all body parts out of moving or operating equipment.

5. Responsible to return any mussels or oysters that have fallen to the floor back on to the conveyers ASAP.

6. Remove any foreign objects or by catch.

7. Remain alert and work safely.

8. Reports food safety concerns, employee safety issues, and equipment deficiencies to a person of authority for corrective action.

9. Any other duties as required by the Production Supervisor or Plant Manager.

  • Quick, accurate eye and hand co-ordination
  • Stamina and good physical condition
  • Dependable and punctual
  • Alert and aware of safe machine operation
  • Willing to take direction and work as part of a team
  • Ability to work very quickly, but safely in a busy, wet, cold environment

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $17.00-$17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 45 per week
