Apprentice Technician – Fraser Ford

Fraser Ford

Fraser Ford in Cobourg is expanding and growing their team. We are actively searching for a polished and professional Apprentice Technician.

This position is responsible for carrying out the directions given to perform work under the Provincial Apprenticeship Training Program including a wide range of automotive service and mechanical repair duties. Hours worked and applied to work are credited toward full journeyman certification.

Primary Responsibilities

Diagnoses and performs work as outlined on repair order under the supervision of a Licensed Technician with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership, factory and warranty policies and procedures.

Discusses any problems related to the repair with Their supervising Technician or Service Manager.

Communicates with Parts Department to obtain needed parts.

Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by customer.

Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.

Informs the Service Advisor of any additional repairs needed or advised.

Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.

Reviews all repairs with a Supervising Technician.

Road tests vehicles after repairs are completed, to ensure that the repairs have been properly done, and that the repair answers the concerns as stated on the work order.

Greets customers when in service bay ensuring optimum customer service and explaining the “Why’s?” and “How’s?” of the problem.

Ensures that customer cars are kept clean.

Attends all training courses as requested by Service Manager.

Maintains complete knowledge of and complies with company and departmental policies, procedures and standards.

Maintains customer and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure.

Maintains a positive working relationship with team members and management in a team environment.

Required Skills and Experience

Completion of high school diploma or vocational equivalent

Must be enrolled in an accredited provincial journeyman’s program with the goal to earn full journeyman certification as an automotive repair technician (310S) or provincial equivalent.

Responsible to maintain any required Licenses and Certifications.

Working knowledge of technical repairs and procedures.

Knowledge of Provincial Safety Standards concerning the performance and area of position responsibility.

Ability to drive manual transmission.

Ability to work cohesively with employees and managers as part of a team.

Excellent interpersonal and customer services skills.

Must be able to communicate (verbal and written) in English fluently.

Ability to work efficiently and effectively under pressure with simultaneous deadlines.

Detail oriented and excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.

Mechanical aptitude and quality orientated.
