Full job description

Freed and Freed Manufacturing is a historic, Canadian garment manufacturer with over 100 years of excellence, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Proudly 100% Indigenous owned by Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, Freed and Freed stands as one of the few remaining Canadian, 4th generation, family-run businesses in the garment industry. Long known for creating high quality outerwear and apparel, Freed and Freed uses its depth of experience and its unique understanding of design, construction, and manufacturing to position itself as a high-quality maker both domestically and internationally across many categories — from private label products for retailers and government sectors to branded outerwear and home goods.

The Position:

Freed and Freed Manufacturing is seeking a highly skilled, exceptionally organized, and versatile Merchandise & Marketing Coordinator, reporting directly to the Senior Management team. This is a truly multi-faceted role — the ideal candidate will wear many hats and take on a wide range of responsibilities spanning product development, merchandising, sales coordination, marketing, creative production, and administrative operations. No two days are the same. The right person thrives in a dynamic environment, can pivot between tasks with ease, and brings the same level of attention and commitment whether managing a production timeline or building a line sheet. This position offers meaningful growth and development across all channels of garment manufacturing, apparel, and marketing.

Objectives & Responsibilities:

Merchandising / Product Development

  • Works closely with the senior management team for daily business, merchandising, and marketing operations
  • Full cycle management of product development from sourcing to production: fabric / trims / packaging / samples / finished goods
  • Communicates actively with domestic and overseas suppliers
  • Participates in developing high quality product that fulfills the design vision
  • Create digital mock up graphics for design review
  • Ensures all sampling stages are conducted according to plan
  • Participates in product fittings and approvals, working with the product development team to meet standards and ensure approvals are completed on time
  • Organize documents to assist the Costing Department with costing and special fabrics and trims
  • Order raw materials and finished goods on time to meet customer orders
  • Ensure the high quality, timely, and cost-effective delivery of all fabric, trims, and finished goods
  • Ensure PO's/Invoices are created and sent
  • Assist in Supply Chain planning strategies and follow up for on-time deliveries
  • Manage project tracker to ensure all deadlines are achieved

Sales / Marketing

  • Ownership of sample management including inventory management, shipping of samples, and organization of samples & fabric swatches
  • Manage customer relationships and communicate with buyers on product requirements, development, and orders
  • Maintain and manage product catalogues and line sheets — creating, updating, and distributing seasonal and wholesale materials
  • Input style information in software systems and global line sheets
  • Partner with shipping department to ensure e-commerce and wholesale orders are fulfilled
  • Support marketing team with organizing creative assets, photoshoots, and product calendars
  • Create and update creative imagery, basic graphic mock-ups, and line sheets using digital design software
  • Assist in website, e-commerce, and stockist platform updates
  • Provide customer service for e-commerce platforms and communicate product knowledge to consumers
  • Additional tasks as required — flexibility and willingness to contribute wherever needed is essential

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Post-secondary education in business management, fashion marketing, or merchandising
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role in apparel merchandising or the manufacturing industry
  • Exceptionally organized — able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously without missing a detail
  • Ability to work independently and take clear direction from senior management
  • A true team player — collaborative, flexible, and ready to take on whatever the day requires
  • Excellent communication skills — both written and verbal
  • Able to collaborate fluently with cross-functional partners and departments
  • Ability to multitask and operate confidently in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Positive, solution-driven mindset with a can-do attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Comfortable creating basic graphic mock-ups and visual presentations using digital tools
  • Experience with Shopify, Canva, or similar e-commerce / design platforms considered a strong asset
  • Some sales or relevant customer service experience is an asset
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team
