What You'll Do

As an Accounting Technician, you will work closely with the partners and accounting team to provide bookkeeping, payroll, and accounting support to a diverse range of clients. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial records and delivering exceptional client service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple clients
  • Processing payroll and preparing payroll remittances
  • Preparing GST returns and maintaining CRA accounts
  • Reconciling bank, credit card, and loan accounts
  • Maintaining accurate client records and documentation
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures
  • Communicating with clients regarding bookkeeping and payroll inquiries
  • Supporting personal tax preparation as required
  • Preparing T4s, T5s, and other information slips
  • Using accounting software to maintain financial records and reports
  • Assisting with administrative and special projects as required

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a public practice accounting firm
  • Experience with bookkeeping and payroll processing
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

Assets (Nice to Have)

  • Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, CaseWare, TaxCycle, or other tax and accounting software
  • Experience preparing T4s, T5s, and year-end working papers
  • Familiarity with personal and corporate income tax preparation

Compensation & Schedule

  • Full-time position (44 hours per week)
  • Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays during busy seasons
  • Health and dental benefits after the probationary period
