Spectrum Home & Family Care is dedicated to supporting individuals to remain safely and comfortably in their own homes. We provide personalized, client-centered care to individuals requiring assistance due to aging, illness, recovery, or rehabilitation. Our approach emphasizes dignity, independence, and meaningful daily support, delivered by compassionate and reliable caregivers.

Position Summary

URGENT HIRE – TWO POSITIONS AVAILABLE

We are currently seeking two compassionate and reliable Personal Support Workers / Health Care Aides to support a client in Rocky View County, Alberta.

This is an on-site role focused on personal care, companionship, household support, social engagement, and assistance with activities of daily living. The client uses a wheelchair and requires caregivers who are comfortable providing hands-on personal assistance while encouraging independence and overall well-being.

The successful candidates will work closely with the client and Spectrum management to follow the established care plan and provide consistent, respectful support.

Schedule

Shift: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

We are hiring for two set schedules:

Position 1 – Tuesday to Friday 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
4 shifts per week
Approximately 16 hours/week

Position 2 – Saturday to Monday 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
3 shifts per week
Approximately 12 hours/week

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, hygiene, grooming, and dressing
  • Provide appropriate assistance to a client who uses a wheelchair
  • Support overall well-being, comfort, and safety throughout shifts
  • Provide companionship, conversation, friendship, and socialization
  • Encourage participation in social activities and meaningful daily routines
  • Assist with activities of daily living and maintaining independence
  • Provide respite support for family members as required
  • Assist with meal planning and preparation
  • Complete laundry and bed linen changes
  • Perform light housekeeping and general tidying
  • Provide appropriate support and reassurance related to cognitive changes
  • Complete progress notes after each shift (mandatory)
  • Follow Spectrum policies and the established client care plan
  • Communicate changes, concerns, or observations to management promptly

Required Certifications & Conditions

  • Health Care Aide certification or equivalent home care experience preferred
  • Clear, current Criminal Record Check
  • First Aid & CPR
  • WHMIS 2018
  • Comfortable providing personal care and wheelchair-related assistance
  • Reliable transportation to and from the client’s home
  • Must already be fragrance-free in daily life (no scented products, detergents, sprays, etc.)
  • Adherence to Spectrum’s confidentiality, documentation, and safety policies
