Full job description

Acacia Grove Horticulture Services is looking for an experienced Landscape Installation Crew Leader to join our team.

The primary focus of this position is leading landscape installation and hardscape projects. The successful candidate must also be willing and able to assist with garden maintenance, mowing, deliveries and other landscaping work when required.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The Crew Leader will work alongside the crew while helping ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small crew on landscape installation and hardscape projects
  • Organize daily tasks and provide clear direction to crew members
  • Read and follow landscape plans, measurements and job instructions
  • Complete site preparation, excavation, grading and base installation
  • Install pavers, retaining walls, garden beds, plants, sod and landscape materials
  • Operate compact equipment and landscaping tools safely
  • Coordinate tools, equipment and materials needed for each project
  • Monitor workmanship, productivity and job-site safety
  • Communicate project progress, material requirements and concerns to management
  • Maintain accurate daily job records and report completed work
  • Keep trucks, trailers, equipment and job sites clean and organized
  • Assist with mowing, garden maintenance, material deliveries and other company work as required
  • Train and support less-experienced crew members

Qualifications

  • Previous landscape installation or hardscape experience is required
  • Previous crew-leadership or supervisory experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of proper grading, drainage, base preparation and installation practices
  • Experience installing pavers, retaining walls, planting beds, sod or similar landscape features
  • Ability to operate compact equipment is a strong asset
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation are required
  • Experience towing and backing up trailers is an asset
  • Able to read measurements, calculate material quantities and follow project plans
  • Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
  • Dependable, punctual and able to work independently
  • Able to perform physically demanding work and regularly lift up to 50 lb
  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Willing to perform different types of landscaping work when required

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
