Sarens Canada is currently recruiting for a SHEQ Coordinator based out of our Fort Saskatchewan, AB office. This is a full-time, 18-month term position reporting to the VP - Western Canada.

As a SHEQ Coordinator, you will be tasked with ensuring that operations at Sarens Canada is provided with exceptional service to the Health and Safety department. Specifically, you will be tasked with:

  • Ensuring that there is adherence to Sarens safety policies both on and off site and encourages co-workers, clients and suppliers to follow the same standards.
  • Assisting management and committees with workplace inspections and risk assessment, when necessary.
  • Responsible to monitor that all working processes (including process flowcharts, procedures, instructions, forms, ...) are clear and unambiguous, conform to the global Health and Safety policy and understood and executed by all employees. This should lead to zero incidents/accidents and to total customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting your observations to the SHEQ Manager, discussing possible solutions or improvements and implementing these in order to continuously improve our safe way of working.
  • Investigating workplace accidents and incidents, and reporting the findings.
  • Representing Sarens during safety meetings with clients, discussing the current safety policy and keeping up-to-date on what the client wants improved or changed.
  • Regularly evaluating the efficiency and effectiveness of the safety policy and safe-work plans, and adjusting them after consultation if necessary.
  • Keeping all key stakeholders informed of updates to the safety policies.
  • Monitor local and provincial area compliance with OH&S policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have the following technical capabilities:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a Health and Safety role
  • NCSO/OHS Certified or working towards NCSO
  • An in-depth knowledge of OH&S legislation in Alberta
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 would be an asset
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Field Experience
  • A willingness to travel up to 75%

We offer a competitive salary, based on experience, and full employer-paid health and wellness benefits. Additionally, you are eligible for RRSP matching after your first year of employment.
