Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic General Manager - Restaurant to lead our vibrant dining establishment. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring exceptional customer service, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for hospitality, a strong management background, and extensive experience in food service environments, including quick service, casual dining, or fine dining settings. As the leader of our restaurant team, you will drive operational excellence, foster a positive team culture, and ensure every guest leaves satisfied and eager to return.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of restaurant operations, including food preparation, kitchen management, and customer service to deliver a memorable dining experience.
  • Build, coach and retain a high-performing team

  • Manage staff recruitment, training, development, and performance evaluations to build a motivated and efficient team.
  • Oversee inventory control processes to minimize waste and optimize food and beverage stock levels using POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and health regulations through rigorous food handling practices and regular staff training on food safety protocols.
  • Supervise shift management by coordinating schedules, monitoring service flow, and resolving operational issues promptly.
  • Handle cash management duties including cash handling procedures, balancing registers, and preparing financial reports.
  • Implement budgeting strategies to control costs while maintaining high-quality service standards.
  • Foster a welcoming environment that emphasizes open communication, accountablity and engagement at all levels.
  • Conduct staff interviews and participate in hiring decisions to select qualified candidates aligned with the restaurant’s values.
  • Indentify, develop and mentor future leaders to ensure strong succession planning.
  • Maintain cleanliness, safety standards, and proper food production procedures across all areas of the restaurant.
  • Model company values and act as an ambassador for the brand in the community.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7-10 years of leadership experience in full-service or fast-casual restaurants, ideally as a GM
  • Proven experience managing high-volume operations and leading diverse teams.
  • Track record of improving financial performance, operational consistency, and guest satisfaction.
  • Strong familiarity with Alberta restaurant labour market and food service regulations, would be a differential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Financial literacy (labour control, COGS, forecasting) and inventory management
  • Familiar with the use of operational systems (scheduling, ordering/inventory, training, etc.) and ensure this is maintained and optimized.
  • High emotional intelligence and team motivation skills
  • Ability to coach and hold people accountable with fairness and consistency
  • Proven experience in restaurant management with a strong background in food industry operations including casual dining, quick service, or fine dining environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking processes, and kitchen management practices.
  • Proficiency with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS for order processing and sales tracking.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience with skills in staff training & development and team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and best practices for food handling and sanitation.
  • Experience managing inventory control, budgeting, cash handling, and cost control measures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate teams and resolve customer concerns effectively.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with excellent organizational skills.
  • Hospitality management background with experience in catering or banquet services is a plus.
