Job Title: Journeyman/woman Manual Machinist

Location: Sparwood, BC

Columbia Industries is a leading hydraulic cylinder repair shop specializing in precision machining, honing, polishing, welding, and chroming. We are committed to delivering high-quality craftsmanship and innovative solutions to our customers.

We are currently seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team in Sparwood, BC. If you have experience in manual machining and a passion for precision work, we want to hear from you!

Position Overview:

As a Machinist at Columbia Industries, you will be responsible for operating manual machines to fabricate, repair, and modify hydraulic cylinder components. You will work closely with our team to ensure parts meet exact specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate manual lathes, mills, and other machining equipment to produce and repair hydraulic cylinder components.
  • Perform honing, and polishing processes to ensure high-quality finishes.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
  • Measure and inspect finished components to ensure they meet precise tolerances and quality standards.
  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of machining equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Journeyman/woman (or equivalent experience in manual machining).
  • Experience working with hydraulic components is an asset.
  • Ability to work with tight tolerances and high-precision measurements.
  • Strong understanding of metals, machining techniques, and finishing processes.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic set of hand tools (specialty tools provided by the company).

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time position 7 days on 7 days off 10 hour days.
  • Overtime opportunities available based on workload.
  • Indoor, shop-based role (no fieldwork required).

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $45–$48/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
