Dedicated to sustainable employment, we emphasize career opportunities and empowerment for Indigenous communities across Canada. Join us and contribute to building a more inclusive future.

The Role

GrizzlyTrek is seeking an experienced Production Well Testing Operator to join our valued client's team in Grande Prairie, Alberta. Our client is an industry leader in surface well testing services across the Montney, Duvernay, and broader Western Canadian basin, with operations running through the Grande Prairie, Sylvan Lake, and Calgary corridors. This is a full-time permanent opportunity with year-round work, strong day rates, and Living Out Allowance on top.
As a Production Well Testing Operator, you will be on location running flowback, production testing, plug drill-out, workover, and abandonment projects. You will rig in and rig out separator packages, monitor pressures and flow rates, collect samples, and keep accurate records across the full test cycle. You will work alongside supervisors and a dedicated crew, with opportunities to train on Multiphase Meter technology and advance toward supervisor tickets.

What You'll Do

  • Operate production testing and flowback equipment safely within approved operating parameters on sweet and sour well sites
  • Rig in, rig out, and maintain surface well testing equipment including separators, line heaters, manifolds, tanks, and flare stacks
  • Monitor wellhead pressures, flow rates, temperatures, and sand content throughout flowback, plug drill-out, and extended production testing operations
  • Record accurate field data, complete tour sheets, and report production volumes and well performance to supervisors and clients
  • Collect fluid samples (oil, gas, water) and perform routine checks on equipment function and well conditions
  • Support plug drill-out operations with coiled tubing or jointed pipe, including real-time production tracking through Multiphase Meter technology
  • Complete pre-job and post-job equipment maintenance, inspections, and housekeeping on site and in the shop
  • Participate fully in safety meetings, hazard assessments, tailgates, and JSA procedures; wear required PPE at all times
  • Respond to call-out workovers, interventions, and abandonment projects on short notice
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, clients, and third-party services to keep operations on schedule and on budget

What You Bring

  • Minimum two (2) years of hands-on experience as a Production Well Testing Operator, Flowback Operator, or equivalent field role
  • Current H2S Alive certification
  • Standard First Aid with CPR
  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or equivalent site-ready ticket
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract
  • Strong understanding of well testing and flowback theory, pressure control, and separator operation
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and any client-required site testing
  • Physically capable of handling a demanding field environment including lifting, climbing, and extended hours outdoors in all weather
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently or as part of a crew
  • Willingness to work 12-hour day and night shifts on a field rotation schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience running Multiphase Meter technology or commingled flowback designs
  • Class 5 license
  • Coiled tubing or plug drill-out exposure
  • Prior experience on critical sour wells
  • Progress toward Well Testing Services Supervisor levels
  • Located in or near Grande Prairie, Sylvan Lake, or the Peace Region

Work Environment

Field-based role operating out of Grande Prairie and surrounding Western Canadian well sites. Work is performed outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions. Sites include sweet and sour wells, with variable shift lengths, night work, and call-out response. Crews follow strict safety and compliance protocols and operate with a safety-first culture.

What We Offer

  • Day rate of $350 to $400 per day to start, plus Living Out Allowance (LOA) when working away from home
  • Year-round work with an industry leader (no seasonal layoffs)
