Type: Project (6 Mths)
Location: Kearl FM

Schedule: 14 on 14 off

Role Summary:

Bouchier is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Carpenter to join our team supporting our camp projects site. We are looking for someone who is not only skilled in carpentry but also interested in project work and contributing to our team's success in maintaining our camp facilities. In addition to interpreting client requirements and blueprints (where applicable), the ideal candidate will be proficient at executing their trade with a high degree of quality and care while meeting the timelines set out. A strong understanding of construction codes and the ability to analyze and troubleshoot would be an asset in this role. This role will require the successful candidate to actively assist with various work scopes as required for various projects around site.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Understanding the specified requirements of the client and working on the specified guidelines to accomplish the same.
  • Reading construction layouts and blueprints and systematically planning all work processes.
  • Framing or Finish Carpentry experience, drywall skills an asset.
  • Repair and maintain doors, floors, windows, partitions, ceilings, and exteriors of buildings; builds and installs door and window framing.
  • Build wooden/steel structures such as partitions, building, office additions, does sheeting and rough carpentry on the buildings as well as final finishes.
  • Perform hand and bench work in carpentry workshop; operate planers, joiners, drill presses, power saws, sanders, and other woodworking machinery.
  • Installation of various types of flooring.
  • Concrete forming and rebar placing.
  • Patching and painting walls, doors and trims.
  • Provide training, mentorship and support for Apprentices as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:


  • Skilled in either Commercial Painting, Mudding & Taping, Finish Carpentry, Flooring Installation, concrete forming or concrete finishing.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required. (Minimum Class 5)
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation) is required.
  • WHMIS 2015 certificate required.
  • High School Diploma preferred.
  • Previous Renovation Experience is considered an asset.
  • 3 years’ experience in a relevant role preferred.
  • Primarily residential or commercial experience preferred.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive Drug, Alcohol, and Physical Demand Assessment
  • Ability to stand, crouch and kneel for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity.
  • Balance for working on scaffolding.
  • Strong mathematical, scientific, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a work team.
  • Fluent in spoken, written, and reading English.
