Transit Operator - St. Albert Transit


Hit the road to a rewarding career! Keolis in St. Albert is seeking Transit Drivesr to join our family-oriented team. If you're committed to safety and providing superior customer service, we offer competitive wages and ongoing development to help you succeed! Operators need to be available for a 24/7 operation.

Note: This role is officially classified as part-time to start. However, we’re looking for candidates wanting to work lots of hours with full weekday and weekend availability, including split shifts. Operators may receive close to full-time equivalent hours, depending on service demand and coverage requirements. Opportunities for full-time status can be obtained eventually within the union.

Qualifications:
  • Valid Class 1 or 2 driver’s license with air brake endorsement
  • Clean driving record with no more than 3 demerit points
  • A cleared criminal record check is required
  • A cleared drug & alcohol Screening is required for this position
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly for customer communication and safety/incident reporting
  • Knowledge of St. Albert and surrounding area is considered an asset
Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent driving skills and safe driving habits.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage passenger behaviour and handle conflict calmly and professionally.
  • Sound judgment and decision‑making, including under pressure, in all weather and traffic conditions.
  • Organized, punctual, and reliable, with the maturity and initiative to work independently.
  • Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to read maps and navigate efficiently.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including split shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate buses on assigned routes in and around St. Albert, following all traffic laws, company policies, safety rules, and time schedules.
  • Provide courteous, professional service to passengers, including answering questions, making general announcements, issuing transfers, collecting fares, and verifying passes.
  • Assist customers with mobility devices and provide curb‑to‑curb support as required.
  • Complete required vehicle, incident, and other reports accurately and in a timely manner, and follow established emergency and accident procedures when necessary.
  • Respond to inquiries while en-route and assist with basic cleaning of units in the wash bay as needed.

    • Probation Wage: $30.90
    • Casual rate - $34.14 per hour
    • Part-time rate - $35.98 per hour
    • Full-Time Wage : $37.88
    • Training Wage: $28.64
