The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Director of Care to join and lead our Lifestyle Options – Schonsee location on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of a 74‑suite Continuing Care facility, including both Type B and Type B Secure residents.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee all areas of site operations for Lifestyle Options – Schonsee.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, guidance, support, and direction to all staff – from Nursing and Care to Housekeeping and Recreation. Including Nursing, Care, Housekeeping, and Recreation teams.
  • Responsible for budgeting and cost control oversight for the site operation.
  • Champion the goals and objectives of Lifestyle Options by working collaboratively with Head Office and Site teams to ensure the site operations run smoothly.
  • Participate and attend all resident meetings, building committee meetings and meetings with third parties that pertain to the ongoing operation of the site (ie. Alberta Health Services, vendors, pharmacy, etc.).
  • Facilitate and/or lead all site-level staffing activity (recruitment, hiring, performance management, discipline) in conjunction with Department Supervisors and Corporate Human Resources.
  • Collaborate with Alberta Health Services Case Managers and other health care providers regarding admissions and/or resident-related concerns.
  • Monitor all nursing staff daily and provide regular feedback to identify areas of improvement and coaching opportunities.
  • Lead the implementation and communication of changes to policy and/or procedure, particularly nursing policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Maintain regular, positive communication with residents’ families and responsible parties to keep them informed and engaged in care planning and outcomes.
  • Conduct regular audits of resident charts and care plans to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with clinical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Current CPR, First Aid and BLS certification (required).
  • Minimum five (5) years in nursing in assisted living setting (required).
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in nursing management or supervisory role. Preference toward those who have led cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (required).
  • Experience working with Yardi and/or Payroll Systems such as UKG, preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally across all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Detail oriented and organized, with the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
