FAMILY, CHILD AND YOUTH WELLNESS PRACTITIONER(s)

(Casual Positions Available)

About the position:

Looking for flexible, meaningful work that makes a difference? McMan is seeking compassionate and dedicated professionals to join our Family Intervention Services team as Casual Family, Child and Youth Wellness Practitioners. This casual position offers the opportunity to provide support to children, youth, caregivers, and families while maintaining flexibility to accommodate varying programs and client needs.

In this role, you will deliver strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive services that promote wellness, safety, resilience, and healthy family functioning. Working with families, community partners, and multidisciplinary teams, you will support family visits, children, youth, and caregivers through transportation, mentorship, life skills development, cultural connection, advocacy, and community integration.

This position is ideal for adaptable professionals who thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy building meaningful relationships, and are passionate about empowering children, youth, and families to achieve positive and lasting outcomes. As a casual team member, you will play a valuable role in providing responsive support services while gaining diverse experience across a variety of family-centered interventions.

Hours: Casual, as-needed position. Hours are scheduled based on client and program requirements and may vary from week to week. Availability on weekdays, evenings, and occasional weekends is required.

Location: Edmonton, Alberta and Surrounding area

What you’ll do:

· Develop effective working relationships with families and the community

· Develop strong partnerships with a multi-disciplinary team

· Remain open-minded and can build and maintain healthy relationships

· Provide Crisis Management

· Offer support and guidance to children and families

· Support competency skill development for all members of the family

· Facilitator of a safe and supportive learning environment for children and their parents/guardians to work on their relationship and potential reunification

· Fully engaging supervised and/or supported visits with children, siblings and their parents/caregivers

What you bring:

· Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology

· Equivalencies may be considered

· Please note that applicants with a degree or diploma in Social Work from a university accredited by the Alberta College of Social Workers are required to be registered with the College (RSW) before starting or obtaining registration within three months of hire.

· 2 years of directly related experience in youth and/or family work

· Police Information Check, including the Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)

· Children's Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)

· Training in Relationship-Based Practice, Child in Relationship, Kids Have Stress Too, Early Brain Development and Trauma-Informed Practice are assets

· Flexibility and adaptability to work varied hours based on family and program requirements.

· Knowledge of child development, parenting skills, mental health disorders and complex behaviors

· Organizational skills and ability to prioritize

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Excellent knowledge of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act

· An understanding of Signs of Safety is an asset

· Emergency First Aid-Level C CPR + AED.

· Class 5 driver’s license, current driver’s abstract, reliable vehicle, $2 Million auto insurance and comfort with driving to various locations are required. Three years’ driving experience with a valid class 5 license is an asset.

· CARE training (asset)

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills
