River Valley School is seeking a dedicated, adaptable and experienced Grade 6 Teacher to join our close-knit and dynamic team. The successful candidate will be someone who embraces the unique talents of every child, creates a safe, nurturing and innovative learning environment, and strives to make a difference in each child’s life.

Responsibilities:

Working under the direction and supervision of the Head of School and Academic Leadership Team, Elementary Teachers will:

  • Promote, achieve, and maintain a high standard of instruction
  • Assist students in acquiring ownership for their learning
  • Assist with extracurricular activities and supervision during the school day
  • Employ effective classroom management procedures to maximize student learning
  • Be familiar with those sections of the School Act, the regulations of Alberta Education, and regulations of the Board that pertain to educator responsibilities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Education
  • Interim or Permanent Alberta Teacher Certification
  • Minimum 5 years teaching experience

To assist in the realization of these expectations a teacher shall:

  • Meet or exceed Alberta Education curriculum
  • Follow appropriate timetables and instructional plans
  • Maintain appropriate order and classroom management
