Opportunity

Are you confident when making critical decisions in real time? As an Aerospace Control Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), you’ll provide air traffic and weapons control, helping to keep Canadian airspace safe.

This position is available full-time or part-time, or as part of our paid education program.

Overview

As an Aerospace Control Officer, your primary duties are to:

  • Conduct aerospace surveillance
  • Control airborne objects throughout Canadian airspace
  • Provide control to civilian and military aircraft during combat and training operations worldwide

This position is similar to the following:

  • Air Traffic Controller
  • Flight Service Specialist
  • Railway and Maritime Traffic Controller
  • Human Resources Manager
  • Airport Manager

To be eligible to apply to the CAF, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident living in Canada;
  • Be at least 18 years old (17 years old with parental consent), except:
  • For the Paid Education programs, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent);
  • For the Primary Reserve, you may be 16 years old (with parental consent) and must be enrolled as a full-time student;
  • Have completed at least Grade 10 or Secondary IV in Québec (some jobs need higher levels of education).

Direct Entry Plan

If you already have a university degree, the CAF will decide if your academic program matches the criteria for this job and may place you directly into the required on-the-job training program following basic training. Basic training and military officer qualification training are required before being assigned.
