Job Overview

Hyatt Place Hyat House Mississauga Airport Corporate Centre is seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in food preparation, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and safety. This position requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
  • Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency and quality of dishes.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety standards.
  • Support the cooking staff by preparing meals according to menu specifications.
  • Handle food items safely and responsibly, following proper food handling procedures.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during meal periods.
  • Participate in menu planning and contribute ideas for new dishes or improvements.
  • Assist with catering events as needed, ensuring all food is prepared and presented beautifully.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a dietary department or as a dietary aide is preferred.
  • Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations.
  • Familiarity with menu planning and meal preparation techniques.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations within the food industry.
  • Excellent knife skills and ability to handle various kitchen equipment safely.
  • Experience in catering or restaurant environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining high-quality standards.
