Full job description

Smart Aviation Maintenance Solutions (AMS) is an MRO located in Toronto, St. Thomas and Barrie, Ottawa Ontario as well as worldwide mobile repair teams. Smart AMS provides component repair and maintenance on several different types of aircraft from business to transport category aircraft.

Position: Aircraft Maintenance Crew Chief

Location: Ottawa, ON (YOW airport)

Term: FT

Roles and Responsibilities

  • · Coordinate and schedule maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and installations, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • · Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment logs, and service reports.
  • · Monitor and assist AME’s and Apprentice daily tasks to maximize efficiency.
  • · Review AME’s and Apprentice time sheets for approval
  • · Review and ensure AME’s are closing task cards in a timely manner.
  • · Enforce and maintain maintenance policies and procedures to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • · Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact on operations.
  • · Collaborate with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and address maintenance-related issues.
  • · Train and supervise maintenance staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • · Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in maintenance management.
  • · Troubleshoots complex technical issues and develops effective solutions
  • · Trains and mentors’ junior technicians, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing
  • · Participates in safety and quality control initiatives, identifying areas for improvement
  • · Communicate effectively with team members, management, and customers
  • · Participating in Safety Management System
  • · Interface with the customer for defect approval and status updates on aircraft
  • · Work with project manager to ensure clean communication between internal department
  • · Other assigned duties

Requirements

  • · Transport Canada (TC) AME license with M1 or M2
  • · Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, Airworthiness Directives, engineering drawings, and procedure manuals.
  • · Knowledge of the Canadian Air Regulations (CARs).
  • · Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, techniques, and equipment.
  • · Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • · Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, external contractors, and suppliers.
  • · Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • · Proficient in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office
  • · Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
  • · Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations related to maintenance operations.
  • · Must be able to lift up to 50lbs repetitively, in addition, must be able to meet physical demands of an environment where you will be walking, climbing, and bending repetitively.
  • · Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings.
  • · Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
