Transdev Canada is hiring a Casual Fixed-Route Operators in Kamloops.

As a Transit Bus Operator, you will be responsible for transporting passengers on public transit vehicles while ensuring their safety and comfort. This is a casual, unionized position based in Kamloops, BC.

Your role

  • Operate vehicles in accordance with all safey regulations and company policies.
  • Safely operate transit buses on assigned routes, in accordance with schedules, dispatch instructions, and all applicable regulations.
  • Provide courteous, professional service to the public, answering questions and assisting passengers with fares, directions, and general inquiries.
  • Ensure accessibility for all passengers, including providing assistance to individuals using mobility devices, as required.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to confirm vehicles are safe, clean, and operational.
  • Maintain a clean, professional vehicle interior and exterior that reflects Transdev’s commitment to quality service.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with dispatch regarding delays, route issues, mechanical concerns, incidents, or accidents.
  • Accurately complete and submit required reports related to trips, passengers, incidents, and accidents.
  • Operate on-board systems such as fare boxes, destination signs, and other transit technology as required.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanour while upholding Transdev’s standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and effective communication at all times.
  • You will be responsible for driving a fixed route.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational needs.

Your profile

  • You have a Class 2 BC Driver's license with air brake endorsement.
    (Applicants who currently hold a Class 5 licence must obtain a BC Class 2 Learner’s Permit prior to starting training. Full training will be provided.)
  • You have a minimum of two years of driving experience.
  • You have a safe driving record with no recent violations or preventable accidents.
  • You possess the ability to manage challenging situations with patience and professionalism.
  • You have strong customer service skills.
  • Prior experience in passenger transportation is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Kamloops geography and road network is an asset.
  • You must successfully complete all pre-employment requirements:
  • Medical assessment, Drug and alcohol test, Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check, and Trainability evaluation.

Your location

  • This is a casual unionized position in Kamloops.
  • Variable Shifts: Expect early morning, evening, weekend, and split shifts as required. Flexibility is essential, as service operates 7 days a week.
