The ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE is responsible for all activities related to selling and matching YLCA solutions for new and existing customers within an assigned territory or customer base, volume and revenue growth, customer satisfaction, onboarding of new accounts, accounts retention, and meeting profitability targets. Experience selling Air Freight and Ocean Freight for Export Business is preferred. Experience selling solutions for Contract Logistics, Land Transport, and Transloading is also preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Targets, onboards, and develops new accounts within the assigned territory or specific customer database, as well as retaining and growing existing accounts.
  • Establishes, builds, and develops strong relationships with decision makers.
  • Gathers detailed information about accounts, understands strategic business challenges and priorities, analyzes information, and prioritizes opportunities critical to the account.
  • Applies appropriate sales techniques to create new business opportunities and expand current revenue streams and achieve assigned financial goals for volume, revenue, and profit.
  • Develops actionable plans to prepare and present proposals for new business, extensions, enhancements, increasing business within each account and overcoming objections to closure.
  • Prepares, presents, and follows up on RFI’s, RFQ’s, Bids and Contracts.
  • Ensures that accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, opportunities, pipeline, and all necessary follow-up activities are accurately maintained and submitted in our CRM/Reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the highest level of service by collaborating with operations in identifying and resolving problems and leveraging industry expertise and account management experience.
  • Work with Finance & Accounting to help collect on delinquent accounts.
  • Provide advisory support to Pricing, Finance, IT and Operations teams to develop and maintain standard operating procedures for accounts as needed.
  • Participates in local business activities and events to gain networking opportunities and to expose the local market to the Yusen brand and value proposition.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or at least three years of B2B sales experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in international freight forwarding demonstrating understanding of logistics processes, systems, and solutions.
  • Demonstrates in-depth understanding of the International Freight Forwarding industry and the customer market segment including full knowledge of all IFF products.
  • Builds strong, trust-based, positive relationships with internal and external constituents.
  • Expresses ideas and information effectively, both written and orally. Seeks out and listens to others’ ideas and suggestions. Provides clear and concise feedback to customers, peers, and superiors. Values others’ input. Can deliver solid and compelling reasons why customers will benefit from a relationship with Yusen Logistics (Canada) Inc.
  • Exhibits self-confidence when presenting to existing and potential customers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems to determine resolution.
  • Is fact based and capable of interpreting numerical analyses. Demonstrated ability to translate analytical concepts and performance into terms customers can understand and act upon in relatively straight forward situations.
  • Continuously looks for opportunities to customer specific offerings or processes by exploring and implementing new approaches and ideas.
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills.
  • Effective time management – ability to manage self, time, and priorities.
  • Valid driver's license for the applicable territory, own vehicle with current automobile insurance.
  • Attends all training as required including cross-training in other operational, sales/departmental functions.
