Position Highlights
About Capital Construction:

Capital Construction, within Project Delivery, is responsible for overseeing a $4B contract portfolio comprising more than
2,000 active contracts. The Contract Management division in Capital Construction provides strong contract governance,
commercial leadership, and execution excellence to support BC Hydro’s multi year capital plan.

Role Overview
As an M2 Contract Manager, you will lead a team of contract management professionals responsible for delivering
construction, services, and standard equipment contracts within BC Hydro’s capital portfolio for the Interior Region. The
team consists of union employees, Management & Professional (M&P) employees and contingent labour resources. You
will ensure effective contract administration, commercial stewardship, and consistent application of best practices across the
full contract lifecycle.

This role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across BC
Hydro. You will play a key role in maturing contract management practices, strengthening process discipline, and fostering a
culture of continuous improvement across Capital Construction.

What you'll do

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team consisting of unionized employees, M&P staff, and contingent labour
supporting construction, services, and standard equipment contracts.

  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high performing team environment.

  • Provide coaching and mentorship to build capability across all job groups.

  • Build and maintain a resource plan that aligns with project and workload forecasts, including developing and managing
Contract Management Work Package agreements.





Contract Management & Execution
  • Provide leadership across day to day contract management activities, including schedule oversight, change management,
claim negotiations, payment validation, deliverable tracking, cash flow and schedule forecasting, and contract interpretation.

  • Monitor supplier performance and ensure contract issues are identified early, communicated appropriately, and resolved in
a timely manner.

  • Support contract professionals in evaluating vendor non compliance and recommending appropriate actions within the
terms of the contract.

  • Ensure BC Hydro meets its contractual obligations and take proactive steps to mitigate claim exposure.


Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal partners including Construction Management, Supply Chain, Project
Management and Engineering.

  • Participate in procurement reviews and ensure lessons learned and historical challenges are addressed in sourcing
documents.

  • Promote transparent, solution oriented communication across all project and stakeholder interfaces.


Process Improvement & Strategy
  • Champion continuous improvement across the contract management function.

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen governance, streamline processes, and enhance commercial outcomes.

  • Lead or support initiatives that modernize policies, tools, and practices within Capital Construction.


Safety Leadership
  • Demonstrate and model BC Hydro’s safety values, behaviours, and expectations in all aspects of work.

What you bring

  • A university degree in business, law, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may
be considered.

  • At least 12 years of progressive experience in a dynamic business environment, including hands on work in contract
formation, contract management, and project procurement.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ leadership experience, including coaching and leading teams through change.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills suitable for both operational and senior level audiences.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders, manage risk, and lead innovative improvements.

  • Professional designations such as PMP, SCMP, or WorldCC (was IACCM) are considered assets.
