Aroma line cooks prepare dishes from our Mediterranean-inspired menu while sharing in our culture of hospitality. You will be responsible for preparing fresh food dishes according to aroma’s recipes and quality standards, while maintaining keen attention to food safety, cleanliness, and teamwork. The ideal candidate brings not only a passion for food and strong time management skills, but also a genuine desire to make people feel welcome—whether you’re plating a dish or helping a teammate during a rush.

Job Details

  • Act as an ambassador of aroma’s hospitality culture, ensuring warmth, teamwork, and pride are reflected in every dish you prepare and every smile exchanged
  • Prepare and produce items from various stations including the salad line, sandwich line, flat grill, and hot soup stations, while maintaining a welcoming, positive presence in the kitchen
  • Because aroma cafés feature an open window to kitchen, you’ll often be visible to guests—so a warm, friendly demeanour, genuine smiles, and positive energy are key to creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone who visits
  • Regularly prepare items such as from-scratch dressings, fresh-cooked grains, and freshly chopped herbs, as well as slicing and dicing produce according to standardized daily kitchen prep
  • Execute all dishes based on standardized recipes and prep sheets while always upholding aroma’s quality, freshness, and presentation standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment, supporting teammates with a helpful attitude and positive communication
  • Strictly follow company, municipal, and provincial guidelines for food safety and workplace safety
  • Receive supplier deliveries, verify received items against invoices, restock fridge/freezer and kitchen lines, and properly label and store all prepared items in accordance with health and safety standards—showing care and pride in maintaining food quality for our guests
  • Wash and put away dishes, dispose of garbage and waste, and keep all areas tidy to ensure a welcoming and professional kitchen atmosphere
  • Work collaboratively and flexibly, performing different tasks within the café during each shift as assigned by your manager or shift leader, with or without reasonable accommodation

Qualifications

  • Valid work permit in Canada required
  • Preferred: Experience working in a kitchen with a solid understanding of cooking fundamentals and practices
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work respectfully, cooperatively, and warmly with other team members
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently and maintain a calm, positive energy under pressure
  • Keen attention to detail, presentation, and consistency
  • A positive attitude and a genuine passion for creating great food and offering warm hospitality
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including early openings, late closings, weekends, and holidays as business requires
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
