Your Role at Conuma

At Conuma, every team member plays a critical role in our success. We’re seeking skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians to keep our operations running efficiently and safely.

What You’ll Do:

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mobile mining equipment, including shovels, drills, haul trucks, loaders, dozers, and excavators.
• Perform field diagnostics and running repairs to minimize downtime during equipment breakdowns.
• Conduct scheduled maintenance and inspections to proactively prevent and address mechanical issues.
• Keep things organized with accurate, detailed records of diagnostics, repairs, and parts usage.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, ensuring every task is performed with safety in mind.
• Provide mentorship to apprentices and collaborate with team members.

We’re looking for skilled professionals who bring:

• Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (preferred).
• 3–5 years of experience with mobile mining equipment in industrial environments.
• Technical expertise in hydraulic and electrical systems, and familiarity using OEM tools such as Caterpillar SIS for diagnostics and parts management.
• A valid driver’s license and experience driving in various weather conditions.
• The ability to work 12-hour shifts (7x7 or 14x14), including days and nights, and meet physical demands such as lifting up to 50 lbs and working at heights.
• A strong commitment to safety, excellent problem-solving skills, and keen attention to detail.
• Flexibility and reliability to excel in both field and shop settings, thriving in all weather conditions.

Q: I don’t have a Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician. Can I still apply?

A: Yes, we welcome applicants with equivalent trade certifications, qualifications, or experience. This includes Heavy Equipment Technicians, Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics (Off Road), Heavy Equipment Truck & Transport Technicians, and 4th Year Apprentices in related trades. Uncertified individuals with extensive practical experience in the trade who meet the criteria to challenge certification as a Trade Qualifier may also be considered.

Q: Does this position offer camp accommodations?

A: Conuma does not offer camp accommodations at this time. However, we provide relocation assistance of up to $10,000 for Heavy Duty Equipment Technicians to help you move to one of the nearby communities, such as Tumbler Ridge or Chetwynd. These communities offer affordable housing, a friendly atmosphere, and a great quality of life, making it easy to settle in and enjoy a balanced lifestyle close to work.

Q: What can I expect to earn annually in this position?

A: With an hourly rate of $58.00, and bonuses and benefits, this position offers an average total annual compensation of $185,000. In addition, enjoy perks such as $975 in annual clothing allowances, a $300 health & wellness reimbursement, and additional premiums for night shifts, weekends, and a tool allowance.
