Job Title: Intake Worker (Substance Misuse Program)

This position reports to: Executive Director

1. Job Overview:

The Substance Use Intake Worker is responsible for coordinating the intake and admission process for the Substance Use Program. This position ensures admissions are completed in accordance with organizational policies, funding requirements, client suitability, and safety considerations while supporting efficient bed utilization

2. Responsibilities:

  • Review, assess, and prioritize intake applications for eligibility, completeness, relative(client) suitability, and safety.
  • Communicate with referral agents, relatives (clients), funding partners, and staff regarding admissions and program information.
  • Consult with management and program staff regarding relative(client) suitability and intake decisions.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and paper records, including application files, intake packages, discharges, waitlists, billing, reports, and file archiving.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office, file systems, SharePoint, and other electronic records management systems to manage information efficiently.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and documentation while ensuring compliance with organizational policies, privacy legislation, and records management standards.
  • Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, training, and Circle, while maintaining a respectful, culturally safe environment.

3. Qualifications Requirements:

  • Completion of High School and completion of a computer class or business class program including computer skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Minimum of 3 years abstinence from alcohol(including social drinking) and any substances, including cannabis in any form
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an administrative, intake, or client service role
  • Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, CRM/client management systems, and electronic records management systems, with the ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, time management, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to assess information, prioritize competing demands, adapt to changing priorities, while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • All work and practice must meet Work Safe Standards
  • Intimate familiarity with Indigenous culture
