Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, growth-oriented Intermediate Staff Accountant to join our firm. This role is designed for a professional possessing exceptional technical expertise, refined communication skills, and a proven track record of managing client relationships. Collaborating closely with internal teams and Partners, you will deliver high-quality service to our client base while identifying strategic opportunities for business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare Notice to Reader working paper files and financial statements proficiently using Caseware with precision and attention to detail.

Audit Engagement: in preparing small audit and review engagements, along with associated financial statements and working papers.

Tax Return Preparation: Prepare corporate income tax returns (T2) in compliance with Canadian tax regulations. Prepare personal income tax returns (T1) for clients. Prepare other information returns, such as T4, T5, T3, NR4, and NR6 forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Prepare and file GST/HST returns based on bookkeeping records, ensuring adherence to tax regulations.

Internal Collaboration: Drive team success by collaborating across all organizational levels and Partners to deliver high-quality, efficient files that meet client objectives. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a culture of professional growth and exceptional service.

Regulatory & Client Communication: Manage professional correspondence with clients, regulatory bodies, and third parties. Effectively liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to address tax adjustments, manage inquiries, and facilitate audit processes seamlessly.

Other ad-hoc duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline; a CPA designation (or active pursuit thereof) is highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience within a Canadian public accounting environment.
  • High technical proficiency in CaseWare, CanTax, QuickBooks, and advanced Excel.
  • Strong analytical thinker with an acute attention to detail, capable of evaluating operational deficiencies and ensuring absolute alignment with accounting guidelines.
  • Highly effective and efficient communication skills; bilingualism or fluency in Chinese is a strong asset
  • Proven track record of strong time management, strategic problem-solving, and independent execution.
  • Collaborative, team-first mindset with a demonstrated readiness to assume advanced responsibilities as the role evolves.
  • Prior experience managing or contributing to external audit engagements is considered a plus.
