CPA Accounting Manager – Public Practice

Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $100,000 – $140,000 annually (based on experience)

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented CPA Accounting Manager to join our public practice team. The successful candidate will oversee engagement files, manage staff, and serve as a key point of contact for clients, while contributing to the firm’s growth and operational success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review complex accounting engagements (compilations and review engagements)
  • Liaise with the Canada Revenue Agency and other regulatory bodies on client matters
  • Review and finalize year-end files, working papers, and financial statements
  • Assign files to team members and monitor workflow, timelines, and budgets
  • Mentor, coach, and develop staff; conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback
  • Respond to client inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Ensure deadlines are met during peak and non-peak periods
  • Support Partners with client deliverables and firm initiatives
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency

Qualifications & Requirements

  • CPA designation (Canada) – required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an accounting manager in public practice in addition to 3 years experience as a Senior Staff Accountant in public practice required.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance
  • Experience managing and reviewing compilation and review engagements
  • Proven leadership and team management experience
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
