Job Summary

Bari Asset Management is seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented and trusted financial professional to join our close-knit team as Senior Property Accountant. The prospective candidate will have the opportunity to join a lean, but growing, entrepreneurial and highly collaborative team focused on commercial real estate investing.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who is responsible for the day-to-day, month-end and year-end accounting for our properties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats, is highly organized and takes pride in doing things the right way. You’ll work closely with ownership and property management to provide timely and accurate financial reporting, manage budgets and help guide sound business decisions.

This role requires a strong background in accounting software and account reconciliation with a focus on commercial real estate and property management sectors. We’re looking for someone who values accountability, clear communication and being part of a small team where your contributions really matter. Responsibilities

  • Lead all accounting functions across our portfolio, including A/P, A/R, bank reconciliations, journal entries and monthly closings, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks to record and analyze financial information.
  • Manage the day-to-day processing of invoices, payments and collections related to the properties, and transaction entry into Quickbooks.
  • Perform account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, to verify the accuracy of financial data.
  • Maintain records of property assets and ensuring proper accounting for depreciation and other related expenses
  • Prepare detailed, clear and accurate quarterly and annual financial reports and statements to support property management and ownership decisions.
  • Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities and implement corrective actions.
  • Draft and review annual budgets for each property in the portfolio and provide accurate financial data and forecasts.
  • Review and approve leases and lease review checklists thoroughly and in a timely manner; ensure set-ups agree with lease language for all items including, but not limited to; rental charges, security deposits, TI and/or LLW amounts and applications thereof and correct interpretation and application of any other relevant clauses; ensure and maintain proper set-up of straight-line rent, recoveries, and any other accounting -related processes that are lease driven.
  • Set up and maintain tenant’s recovery in accordance with lease language; calculate and record monthly and annual operating costs and realty tax recovery adjustments, billings and estimates, and perform reconciliations of Common Area Maintenance (CAM) charges and ensure accuracy in tenant billing.
  • Assist with capital project tracking and loan reporting.
  • Support acquisition and disposition activity as required including post-closing adjustments; ensure trial balances or outstanding items are cleaned up in a timely manner after disposition.
  • Support auditing activities by preparing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with internal controls.
  • Ensure proper bookkeeping practices are followed across all properties.
  • Maintain organized records of all financial transactions, supporting transparency and audit readiness.

Experience

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Property Accountant or in a similar accounting role, ideally within real estate or property management industries.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting software including QuickBooks and Excel and other relevant tools.
  • Strong background in account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, auditing, and financial reporting.
  • Experience with commerical real estate finance functions including budgeting, account analysis and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with bookkeeping practices, accounts payable/receivable management and account reconciliation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data accurately and efficiently.
  • Prior experience working with real estate portfolios or property management companies is highly preferred.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and comfortable working independently and in a small team environment.
  • Strong communicator who can explain financials in plain language.
