Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Site Supervisor to lead an emergent, inclusive child care program that supports children from Infant to School Age. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young children. This leadership role involves overseeing daily operations, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with licensing standards. A strong background in early childhood education is essential to successfully guide our team and support children's developmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing priorities, time allocation, and resources effectively
  • Managing regular and concise record keeping and reporting with respect to all childcare functions
  • Readily and sensitively managing any conflicts/issues
  • Adhering to and supporting agency policies and procedures
  • Supervising educators and support personnel, as well as lead, mentor, motivate and train staff within the program
  • Providing support to staff in developing highest quality curriculum and standards of care
  • Providing clear and transparent communications with all levels of the childcare including school personnel, ministry personnel, parents, community members, and other agencies
  • Communicating policies and procedures with the childcare team using written guidelines, workshops, and consultations
  • Working with head office administrative staff to monitor enrolment/waitlist
  • Ability to learn, and comprehend programs such Child Care Pro, utilize, portals etc.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Participating in community events
  • Leading employee performance development and review, in collaboration with staff
  • Works cooperatively with team to ensure the smooth, enriching, and safe functioning of the centre
  • Ensuring adherence of financial policies and procedures
  • Working with head office team regarding enrolment, registration and parent fees and fee subsidy
  • Ensuring the health, welfare and safety of the children and staff and ensuring that the full site follows all legislation, policies and procedures related to health and safety (e.g., document all accidents, injuries, and illness, follows medication and first aid procedures, and maintains and updates health records for children and staff)

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of and maintains the standards set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA), Durham Region Children's Services Operating Criteria (DROC) and current child development and initiatives related to early learning and the childcare field
  • Excellent computer literacy skills: strong ability to utilize tablet devices and relevant software applications e.g., Word, Microsoft Office Tools, PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, organizational time management skills
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Proven experience working with children in educational settings, preferably in a leadership role
  • Classroom experience with early childhood education principles
  • Knowledge of working with individuals with disabilities and implementing inclusive practices
  • Strong teaching skills combined with effective leadership abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, families, and community partners
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining a nurturing environment for children
  • Relevant certifications or credentials in early childhood education or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years of supervisory experience
  • Valid drivers license and reliable access to a vehicle

Pay: $32.00-$35.00 per hour
