Binnie is looking for a Document Controller, to join our Transportation Major Projects Division, which provides Owner’s Engineer and Project Delivery services for the design, procurement and construction of major infrastructure projects in British Columbia. This is a full-time position available in our Burnaby Office, located near scenic Deer Lake,
Our recent projects include the Patullo Bridge Replacement Project, Fraser River Tunnel Project and Steveston Interchange Project.
You will work with our experienced Project Managers and our talented engineering team to ensure we meet our clients’ needs. This is an excellent opportunity for advancement.
YOUR ROLE:
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of document control protocols and systems in alignment with project execution plans and client requirements
- Serve as the lead for document control and information management workstreams, including planning, coordination, execution, and reporting across assigned projects
- Act as the primary liaison for all incoming and outgoing submittals in accordance with established document control procedures
- Serve as the key point of contact for document control–related queries, collaborating with stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and support staff
- Work as part of the Owner’s Engineer/project delivery team on major projects
- Establish and maintain project data rooms and electronic document management system (EDMS) folder structures
- Define, implement, and enforce document naming conventions
- Conduct project performance, as well as quality control and assurance activities
- Manage and support EDMS platforms such as SharePoint, ProjectWise, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar systems
- Train and support project team members on document control protocols and systems
- Manage incoming and outgoing project correspondence and documents
- Maintain accurate records of document status, including version version control, metadata tagging, distribution history
- Coordinate document distribution and retrieval across internal teams, clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and external consultants
- Prepare and maintain document registers, deliverable trackers, action logs, decision logs, and controlled document lists
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure timely document submissions and approvals
- Ensure all work meets Binnie’s quality standards and client expectations
- Integrate with client reporting systems and project teams to support the overall delivery of projects
- Proactively support clients by anticipating project needs and identifying potential gaps
WHAT YOU BRING:
- A minimum 6-12+ years in document control within a civil engineering or construction environment
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or Administration, Information Management, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field
- Experience supporting or managing project execution plans, workflows, governance frameworks, or information management processes
- Hands-on experience administering EDMS platforms such as SharePoint, ProjectWise, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar systems
- Experience in establishing and maintaining project folder structures and document naming conventions.
- Strong knowledge of document control principles, including lifecycle management, version control, and archiving
- Excellent organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary team environments
- Proven ability to build positive working relationships and navigate challenges constructively
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management principles is an asset
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a personal vehicle

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $74,100 - $95,000 annually. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
