Intent of the process
The resulting pool will primarily be used for staffing opportunities of various tenures for the Fraser Stock Assessment Program in the Fraser and Interior Area but it may also be used to staff similar future positions at various tenures within Fisheries and Oceans in the Pacific Region.

Education:
- Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience).
Degree equivalency
- Experience in organizing and conducting stock assessments of anadromous salmonids.
- Experience operating and maintaining field equipment such as boats, motors, vehicles, inflatable rafts, seine nets, and biological sampling and mechanical equipment.
- Experience in the direction of technical support personnel.

Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance
- A valid BC Class 5 driver's licence or equivalent.
- Health Canada Medical Clearance.
- Valid first aid certification (minimum level 1 with CPR).
- Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card.
- Annually, up to 5 months of travel time associated with the delivery of field studies, including traveling to and working from remote field locations, for periods of up to 10 weeks at a time.
- Seasonally working overtime, weekends, shift work and variable hours for continuous durations up to 10 weeks, as required to meet operational needs.
- Working and living in remote field camps, often under challenging conditions such as inclement weather, with limited amenities for extended periods of time.
- Working in and around lakes and swiftwater environments.
- Participation in periods of strenuous physical work, associated with field activities and equipment maintenance.
- Flying in helicopters and small fixed-wing aircraft.
- Attain and maintain certifications as may be required to meet Departmental health and safety standards.
