Full job description

Mercato is a successful, family run Restaurant , Pizzeria & Food Market.

Since 1974 it was destined to be unlike any other food experience.

Great Italian food products and service create our authentic Italian food experience

COOKS - We are currently seeking a line Cook to grow our culinary team.

We have a professional kitchen that is reliant and fueled by motivated, hardworking individuals that have a passion for food. A good positive attitude is mandatory.

Terms of Employment: Full time (must be available days,evenings & weekends)

Salary: Starting wage is $17-$22 for first 3 months, increasing after 3 month review. Tips after 30 days.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Status: Canadian Citizen, Permanent resident, or valid work permit (minimum 1 year) required

Experience: Previous experience (min. 1 year) is required and culinary education is an asset.

Education: Completion of high school or previous work experience in a professional kitchen

Credentials: Red Seal certification or apprenticeship program (asset but not required)

Essential Skills: Speak English, Read English, Write English, Reading text, Numeracy,

Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Transportation: Public transportation is available but having a vehicle is an asset.

Work Location: Mercato (West Springs Location)

Unit 5000, 873–85 Street SW, Calgary, Alberta T3H 0J5

Job Duties:

  • Prepare, season and cook food as directed, meeting dietary requirements where required
  • Follow recipes and presentation specifications
  • Operate standard kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Clean and maintain station in practicing good safety and sanitation
  • Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies and equipment
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes

Pay: $17.00-$22.00 per hour
