Full job description

BMD Transportation is looking to hire AZ open deck (flatbed/stepdeck/RGN/Double Drop) drivers to work from our Kingston, ON depot delivering customer product to locations and jobs sites in within a 1000 mile radius. Including cross border trips into the US.

Position Requirements:

  • Valid A/Z driver’s license
  • Valid passport
  • Criminal Background Check
  • Minimum of 2 years verifiable tractor & flat/step driving experience
  • Clean CVOR
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexibility to accommodate different start times
  • Ability to work 50+ hours/week

Responsibilities:

  • Operate a manual transmission highway tractor with a 53' trailers and extendable trailer adhering to all road safety requirements
  • Perform inspections of tractor trailer unit before, during, and after trips, including gauges, lighting and electrical systems, and visual checks of potential water, oil, fuel and air leaks
  • Completing all applicable paperwork.
  • Maintain up-to-date Driver Log throughout the duration of each shift.
  • Responsible for communicating with Dispatch.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and co-workers in a professional manner
  • Be able to perform physical work (lifting in excess of 50lbs)
  • Observe and comply with rules and regulations of the Ministry of Transportation and the Highway Traffic Act
  • Secure and unsecure loads using straps and chains
  • $26/hr during probation period
