Full job description

Kikka Sushi is looking for a friendly, hardworking, and dependable Prep Cook / Food Prep Team Member to join an existing team, working in Whole Foods Market locations (listed below).

Shift Hours: 7:00am – 3:45pm (includes a 1-hour unpaid meal break)

Full-Time Position:
This role requires flexibility to work at any of our 4 locations, as assigned by the manager:

  • 510 West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1C5 (Cambie)
  • 925 Main St, West Vancouver, BC V7T 2Z3
  • 120 East 13th Street, North Vancouver, BC V7L 4W8
  • 4420 Lougheed Highway, Burnaby, BC V5C 3Z3

Schedules and location assignments are set by the manager and may change with little or no advance notice. This role requires flexibility.

Current availability needed:

  • North Vancouver: Saturday, Sunday, Monday
  • Burnaby: Must be available Tuesday–Friday. Days off within this window are scheduled by the manager to ensure the team is covered.

Part-Time Position:
North Vancouver location only — Saturday, Sunday, Monday (same shift hours as above)

Job Duties:
The Prep Cook / Food Prep / team member will make sushi in advance and per customer's request. You don’t know how to make sushi, no problem we will teach you! The team member will also make sushi, spring roll and salad roll, prep (veggies and fish), cook rice, clean and wash, making order and receiving orders, put away the orders received, month end inventory, and other duties as assigned such as cleaning, and maintaining a clean and neat environment while helping customers.

To thrive you must show up to work on time and as scheduled, be willing to learn and work hard (this isn’t an easy job), be patient (it takes about 3 months to make sushi quickly and look nice too), must be willing to stick it out (not quit after a few weeks or a couple of months) and be able to work with multi-cultural and multi-lingual co-workers, some who barely speak English.

Pay: $18.50 per hour plus additional monthly allowance for medical (for Full Time only).

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 23 kilos
  • Reliable transportation required

Preferred experience:

  • Working in quick service restaurants, supermarkets or fast paced environments
  • Food handling experience and food handler certification
  • Food safety at least level one is a plus.
