Job Overview

At Mr. Sushi, our Sushi Cooks play an important role in preparing fresh, high-quality sushi for our customers. We're looking for someone with professional kitchen experience who is hardworking, dependable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Previous sushi-making experience, particularly preparing rolls quickly and consistently, is highly preferred, but we're also happy to consider candidates who are eager to learn and develop their skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of sushi rolls efficiently while maintaining quality, consistency, and presentation standards
  • Assist with daily food preparation, including sushi rice, vegetables, seafood, and other ingredients
  • Prepare and plate sushi orders accurately and efficiently during busy lunch and dinner service
  • Maintain consistent portion sizes, food quality, and presentation
  • Keep the sushi bar clean, organised, and well-stocked
  • Monitor ingredient levels and assist with inventory management and proper food storage
  • Work closely with sushi chefs, kitchen staff, and other team members to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a professional kitchen required
  • Experience preparing sushi rolls in a restaurant highly preferred
  • Ability to prepare sushi rolls quickly, accurately, and consistently is a strong asset
  • Basic knowledge of sushi preparation and Japanese ingredients is an asset
  • Reliable, hardworking, and positive attitude
  • Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs (11 kg)
  • Willingness to learn and develop sushi-making skills
