About Fivestone Studios!
Fivestone Studios is a Nashville-based creative media agency that an international clientele trust as their creative secret weapon. Our MO is taking on giants and making heroes of our clients through an impressive arsenal of strategy, design, digital media production & interactive technology capabilities.
Our primary goal at Fivestone Studios is to make a space for creative warriors to grow, thrive and take on their own giants. If you have a passion for teamwork, are willing to leave your ego at the door, and have a strong drive for creative excellence, we would love to talk.
Your Mission
We are looking for a Senior Visual Artist / Unity Environment Artist / 3D Generalist to create visually polished, stylized environments directly in Unity for interactive and real-time experiences.
This is a hands-on, artistically driven role for a senior or strong mid-level artist who can work autonomously and take ownership of an environment, from initial creation and scene layout through to final visual refinement.
The ideal candidate combines strong artistic sensibility with practical Unity experience, bringing together environment creation, composition, 3D generalist skills, simple animation, and light visual effects to deliver cohesive and engaging real-time environments.
The focus is on visual quality and execution rather than programming or complex technical development.
PS.: Candidates must be able to work and collaborate during US business hours (US time zones), regardless of their location.
Key Responsibilities
Environment Creation & Visual Development
- Build and develop visually polished, simple, stylized 3D environments directly in Unity.
- Take ownership of environment creation, from initial setup and layout through to final visual execution.
- Create and arrange 3D assets, objects, and environmental elements to achieve a cohesive visual result.
- Ensure environments maintain a strong artistic standard while remaining appropriate for real-time applications.
- Balance a simplified, stylized aesthetic with polished presentation and visual quality.
Scene Layout & Composition
- Design and organize scene layouts within Unity.
- Apply strong principles of composition, spatial arrangement, and visual storytelling.
- Position and refine environmental elements to create visually engaging and coherent scenes.
- Ensure consistency in the overall look and feel of the environment.
Animation & Visual Effects
- Create and implement simple object animations and movements within Unity.
- Handle straightforward animated interactions, such as objects moving through a scene or flying off screen.
- Develop and integrate light visual effects where needed.
- Use Unity particle systems and other practical tools to enhance the environment and its interactions.
- Ensure animations and effects integrate naturally into the overall scene.
Artistic Execution & Collaboration
- Work autonomously and take responsibility for the quality and completion of assigned environments.
- Apply broader 3D generalist skills to support environment development and visual refinement.
- Collaborate with creative and technical teams to ensure the environment meets the project's visual and functional objectives.
- Identify and address visual issues to maintain a polished final result.
- Clearly communicate artistic decisions and explain the work personally developed and implemented in Unity.
Your Journey
Must Have
- Unity Experience: Strong practical, hands-on experience creating and developing 3D environments directly in Unity.
- Environment Art: Proven experience in environment creation, scene building, and visual development for real-time applications.
- 3D Generalist Skills: Solid understanding of 3D workflows and the ability to work across different aspects of environment creation.
- Scene Layout & Composition: Strong artistic eye for composition, spatial arrangement, and visual coherence.
- Stylized Visual Development: Ability to create simple, stylized environments with a polished, professional visual finish.
- Autonomy: Senior or strong mid-level capabilities, with the ability to independently manage and execute environment work.
- Basic Animation: Ability to create and implement simple object movements and animations.
- Visual Effects: Practical understanding of light VFX and the ability to create or integrate simple effects when needed.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating environment art, visual quality, and hands-on work developed in Unity, with clear ownership of the work presented.
Nice to Have
- Experience creating particle systems and other lightweight visual effects in Unity.
- Background in gaming, real-time environment art, or interactive experiences.
- Experience working on immersive or experiential projects.
What We're Looking For
We're particularly interested in artists who enjoy working directly in Unity and can independently turn a visual direction into a complete, polished environment.
You don't need to be a programmer or an advanced character animator. What matters most is your artistic eye, practical Unity experience, and ability to create visually compelling environments, even when the style is intentionally simple.
Thank you for applying. We’re committed to an inclusive process and we welcome talent from all walks of life. We aim to review every application. Roles in experiential can be ultra-specialized; if it’s not a fit for this one, we may still flag your profile for future opportunities. Thanks for helping grow the Sourcing Unicorns talent ecosystem.
