Full job description
Line Cook (Minimum 2 Years’ Experience)
Daymi is a modern Lebanese restaurant focused on traditional, home-style Lebanese food presented in a fresh and contemporary way. We are looking for experienced Cooks to join the back-of-house team at our new location at 586 Yonge Street.
Organization, cleanliness and attention to detail are extremely important in our kitchen. Daymi operates with detailed systems for prep, labeling, storage, portioning, cleaning, station organization and food quality. We are looking for cooks who naturally work in a clean and organized way
Key Responsibilities:
- Work both prep and line stations as assigned by the Kitchen Supervisor
- Complete daily prep accurately, efficiently and by the required time
- Follow recipes, weights, portions and presentation standards precisely
- Cook and assemble menu items consistently during service
- Taste and check prepared food for quality, seasoning, texture and consistency
- Keep your station clean, organized, stocked and service-ready throughout the entire shift
- Clean as you go rather than allowing cleaning and organization to build up until the end of the shift
- Follow Daymi's systems for labeling, dating, storage, FIFO, shelf life and designated product locations
- Store prepared ingredients in the correct containers and designated areas
- Return ingredients, tools and equipment to their proper places after use
- Complete opening, running and closing checklists thoroughly — not just at the end of the shift
- Maintain accurate portion control and minimize food waste
- Record all food waste and breakage
- Check the quality of ingredients before using them and report anything that does not meet standard
- Assist with receiving, organizing and properly storing deliveries
- Complete temperature, cleaning and food safety logs accurately
- Follow allergen, cross-contamination and food safety procedures at all times
- Cook and assemble catering orders according to recipe and portion standards
- Communicate low stock, prep shortages, quality issues, equipment problems or other concerns to the Kitchen Supervisor
- Support other stations when needed and leave your station properly stocked and organized for the next employee
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with the rest of the team
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, ideally with Middle Eastern or Mediterranean cuisine.
- Ability to accurately follow written recipes, prep lists, checklists and kitchen procedures
- Valid Food Handler Certificate before starting work
- Strong knife skills and attention to detail, especially in preparing salads, garnishes, and mezze.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently while taking direction.
- A genuine passion for food and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes consistently.
