About Doorbed Short-Term Rentals

Doorbed Short-Term Rentals is a growing short-term rental management company based in Calgary, Alberta. We operate multiple furnished rental units across the city and pride ourselves on delivering high-quality guest experiences. We are looking to hire residential housekeeping professionals to support day‑to‑day onsite operations.

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented Housekeeping Assistant to assist with turnover cleanings, minor repairs, and general property upkeep. This role requires flexibility, independence, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Perform full cleanings between guest stays (bedroom(s), bathroom(s), kitchen, living area).
  • Replenish consumables and restock linens/supplies.
  • Provide live updates to the Operations Coordinator.
  • Ensure all units meet cleanliness and presentation standards before guest check‑in.

Small repairs / Maintenance

  • Complete small repairs such as tightening hardware, patching small holes, replacing lightbulbs, etc.
  • Report larger maintenance issues and coordinate with external contractors when required.

Availability & Scheduling

  • Be available during weekdays and weekends on short notice.
  • Work schedules are assigned weekly based on upcoming reservations and maintenance needs. Retained candidates will receive their schedule at least 24 to 72 hours in advance whenever possible. Urgent turnarounds may require occasional same-day availability.

Qualifications

  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in residential housekeeping, property maintenance, hotel operations.
  • Basic repair skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle to work at different property locations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hours: 15-30 hours per week depending on booking volume (possibility of an “Averaging Agreement”). Hours may increase during peak seasons and decrease during slower periods.
  • Regular wage (weekdays): CAD 17.00 to 20.00 per hour based on experience.
  • Premium wage (weekends): CAD 20.75 to 23.75 per hour based on experience.
  • Overtime is paid or banked (employee preference) at 1.5x regular wage for hours worked in excess of (8) hours a day or (44) hours a week, whichever is greater.
  • Statutory holidays: Employee is entitled to (9) statutory holidays per year after the “Probation Period”.
  • Vacation: Employee is entitled to 4% of vacation pay, or the equivalent of (2) weeks per year after 1 year of employment.
  • Cleaning supplies & complete toolkit: provided by employer.

Probation Period

The Employee will be subject to a 90-day of work probationary period beginning on the first day of employment. During this period, the Employer will assess performance, reliability, and suitability for the role. The Employer may terminate employment at any time during the probationary period, with or without cause, subject to applicable employment standards. If additional time is required to fairly evaluate the Employee’s performance, the Employer may extend the probationary period for up to an additional 30 days. Any extension will be communicated to the Employee in writing before the end of the initial probation period. Upon successful completion of probation, the Employee will be confirmed as a regular employee.
