Job Title: Terry Fox School Run Ambassador – Ontario

Employment Type: Contract, Full Time

Dates: August 24, 2026 – October 9, 2026 (One ambassador to end Oct 16, 2026)

Compensation: $22/hour

Location: 27 Klondike Dr, Toronto, ON M9L 1S1

The Terry Fox Story

When Terry Fox was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at 18, the experience ignited in him a fierce determination to bring an end to the suffering cancer causes. His personal experience and research led him to the conclusion that more money was needed for cancer research. And so, on April 12, 1980, Terry dipped his artificial leg in the Atlantic Ocean and proceeded to change the world.

Position Summary:

Are you passionate about storytelling, travel, and making a real impact? As a Terry Fox School Run Ambassador, you’ll hit the road to energize schools within a reasonably close radius/distance with a high-energy, heartwarming, and motivational presentations that celebrate Terry Fox’s legacy. Your mission? To spark excitement, boost school spirit, and supercharge fundraising efforts for cancer research—all while having a blast connecting with students and educators. If you love inspiring others and thrive in front of a crowd, this is your chance to be part of something truly meaningful (and fun)!

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work with an already created school presentation to customize and present to students
  • Follow and complete a Gmail calendar of daily scheduled presentations created by a Booking
  • Coordinator with the goal of filling every weekday with a minimum of 3 schools per day
  • Communicate promptly and professionally by phone and/or email with School Run Organizers to book and confirm assemblies
  • Travel to and attend in-person school Terry Fox assemblies within a reasonably close radius/distance
  • Keep track of mileage and lunch expenses to fill out on expense report
  • Deliver high energy and fun assembly presentations highlighting the story of Terry, his legacy and the impact of their fundraising support
  • Maintain good stakeholder relations by providing above standard customer service as required
  • Provide additional office support as needed, including packaging/shipping merchandiser orders, filing, answering telephones, data processing and other administrative tasks

Skill Requirements:

  • Able to deliver a high energy, engaging and fun presentation to students
  • Comfortable public speaking to large audiences of school age children and teachers
  • Computer and tech savvy/experienced in MS Office, specifically Outlook, Power Point, Google Calendar
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within a highly efficient team environment
  • Familiarity with the story of Terry Fox and a passion to support cancer research
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in late August – October (during high season, early mornings may be required)
  • Self-motivated and resourceful

Must Haves:

  • Reliable vehicle and willing to travel (gas mileage allowance provided)
  • Class 5 driver’s license, a good driving record and able to navigate confidently
  • Cell phone (usage reimbursement provided)
