J-Con Civil Ltd. is a dynamic and innovative civil contractor specializing in municipal infrastructure and heavy civil projects in Manitoba. We are currently seeking an experienced Concrete Superintendent to lead our concrete operations, with a primary focus on City of Winnipeg street reconstruction and new construction work.

The Role

As Concrete Superintendent, you will oversee all field operational aspects of the company’s concrete division. You will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of concrete paving projects, including slipform paving operations, while ensuring full compliance with City of Winnipeg specifications. This leadership role involves managing crews, equipment, scheduling, and stakeholder relationships to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise all concrete operations, with emphasis on City of Winnipeg street projects (curb, gutter, sidewalk, and roadway paving)
  • Ensure strict adherence to City of Winnipeg specifications, standards, and quality control requirements
  • Oversee daily planning, crew scheduling, material procurement, testing, and traffic management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with City of Winnipeg inspectors, engineers, consultants, and project stakeholders
  • Enforce company safety protocols, environmental standards, and quality assurance procedures
  • Prepare and review daily/weekly reports, track production, costs, and project documentation
  • Identify and resolve operational challenges in paving and concrete placement
  • Mentor, train, and develop concrete crew members and foremen

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a Concrete Superintendent or Senior Foreman on City of Winnipeg street work is mandatory
  • Proven expertise in slipform paving for municipal roadways, including curb & gutter, sidewalks
  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of City of Winnipeg specifications, standards, inspection processes, and approval requirements
  • Minimum 10–12 years of progressive experience in concrete paving and municipal work, with at least 5–7 years in a senior supervisory or divisional leadership role
  • Strong technical knowledge of concrete mix designs, forming, finishing techniques, curing, and quality control
  • Familiarity with City of Winnipeg traffic control standards, permitting processes, and municipal project delivery
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and flexible hours as project demands require
