Full job description

We build shops. Post-frame and wood-frame, residential, commercial and farm, start to finish, all year.

This is the Level 3 seat on our crew ladder. Here is what you will actually be doing by your ninetieth day: taking the complex parts of the build on your own and finishing them right the first time, working inside the time on the task tracker, and starting to train the first and second year guys behind you. By month six you will have signed off on all four of our skills forms, which is what moves you up a band. By month twelve, if you want it, you are ready to run a crew.

We can teach you how we build. We cannot teach you to own your mistakes, to call before your start time rather than after, or to care that somebody is going to use that building for the next thirty years.

You are probably right for this if you have framed for three to five years, you have taken a set of drawings and a job sheet and finished the work without anyone standing over you, and you are tired of being the guy who knows more than the job title says.

You get $24 to $28 an hour depending on what you walk in with, a written ninety day review with a planned raise if you are performing, year-round work because we are not a seasonal outfit, dental and extended health, and a ladder with the rungs written down: Site Assist, Level 1, 2, 3, Lead Hand, Site Superintendent.

Monday to Friday, day shift, 8 to 10 hours, roughly 40 to 50 a week. Sites run within an hour of Leduc. Some early starts. You need a licence, your own way to get there, steel toes, and a willingness to stand outside in an Alberta January.

Fall protection, first aid, forklift or telehandler are a bonus, not a requirement. If you have framed post-frame buildings, say so in the first line of your application.

Pay: $24.00-$28.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Dental care
  • Extended health care

Application question(s):

  • Safety is a core value on every one of our sites. Are you safety-conscious and committed to following all safety requirements and wearing the required protective equipment at all times? (Yes/No)
  • Our sites require travel to different sites within 1 hours of Leduc some are with early starts. Can you meet that? (Yes/No)
  • Describe the most complex thing you have framed or built on your own, start to finish. What was it, roughly how long did it take, and which parts did you personally do rather than help with?
  • On your last job, what did you mostly work from? Answer with ONE of these three: FULL DRAWINGS, JOB SHEET, or VERBAL DIRECTION from a lead.
  • Do you hold a CURRENT fall protection ticket? If yes, give the month and year it expires. If no, type NO. This is a bonus, not a requirement.
  • What hourly rate are you looking for? Answer with ONE of these four: UNDER $24, $24 TO $26, $26 TO $28, OVER $28.
  • When could you start? Answer with ONE of these four: THIS WEEK, TWO WEEKS, FOUR WEEKS, LONGER.

Experience:

  • framing or post-frame building: 3 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • driver's licence (required)

Work Location: In person
