Full job description
Company Mission
Muskoka Woods is a Christian youth development organization that welcomes everyone to an experience for a lifetime. Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Rosseau, we specialize in summer camp, school trips, group retreats and leadership development for all ages. We exist to inspire youth to shape their world.
Job Description
From September to June, the Schools & Retreats team turns ordinary weeks into extraordinary adventures! Whether it’s middle schoolers zip-lining for the first time, high schoolers bonding over campfires, or adults recharging on a team retreat and enjoying the food and facilities, we create life-changing experiences for everyone who visits. Each year, we welcome over 25,000 guests - students from grades 6 to 12, corporate groups, and church retreats. This team brings energy and excitement, creating memories that last a lifetime.
The role of the Program Leadership team is to create incredible Muskoka Woods experiences through excellent programming and customer service. The program team works behind the scenes, as well as hands on with the guests, making sure every group has an exceptional experience from the moment they arrive to the moment they leave. Program Leadership staff lead, coach, and cheer on our seasonal staff (including staff training and performance reviews), provide guest experience support, handle project management, and make sure our gear and spaces are customer ready.
Each day kicks off with a team meeting before launching into activity setup, staff support, and daily projects. Program Leadership take turns leading the charge in the evenings with smaller staff crews to bring the sizzle—meals, evening programs, campfires, snack time—you name it, we make it awesome, Muskoka Woods style. No two days are the same, the teamwork is real, and the fun never stops!
The Ropes Specialist is all about adventure, challenge, and safety at new heights—literally! They are the go-to expert for keeping our High and Low Ropes courses running smoothly and safely, making sure every climb, swing, and team challenge is an unforgettable (and secure) experience. With boots on the ground and eyes on the details, this role takes charge of gear checks, course maintenance, and regular inspections.
As part of the broader Leadership Team, this role also contributes to staff ministry initiatives and champions staff care and community life – including planning staff events, leading small groups, or just being a steady presence in the highs and lows of camp life. Being part of leadership means contributing to shaping the staff team through planning Staff Development weeks, participating in our One to One mentoring program and building strong, meaningful connections with our staff.
This role is a 12 month contract that will transition to a Ropes Course Area Head for our Summer Camp program (June-August).
Staff are required to attend all meetings as outlined during staff training including Cadence and Small Group.
**Please note: All positions are required to work in other areas including program, washing dishes, housekeeping, grounds keeping and snow removal, and office coverage.
Skills and Attributes Required
Muskoka Woods is looking for staff whose personal values match the MW Core Values which includes having a passion for working with children and youth.
Ropes Specialist applicants must be energetic, active, and have strong skills in planning and implementing programs for skill development and fun. Previous leadership exprience is preferred, with skills in organization, time management, conflict resolution, and team communication.
Applicants must also be comfortable with heights and have a passion for and experience with High Ropes. Level 2 Ropes Certification will be provided.
All Leadership applicants must also have a desire to work in, live with, and contribute to a community that prioritizes leadership, personal growth, and friendship.
