Description:

We are looking for an Intermediate Claims Adjuster to join our Claims team. Reporting to the Claims Supervisor, this position will be responsible for the day-to-day activities involved in investigating, assessing liability and developing a resolution strategy for a diverse range of liability claims.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is business minded, results driven and customer focused, with the ability to prioritize and consistently meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly adjust casualty claim files
  • Provide a coverage assessment for the insured by reviewing the insurance contract and all relevant claim materials
  • Assess the exposure from a claim in order to accurately reserve for exposure
  • Develop a resolution strategy
  • Negotiate claim settlement directly with claimant or opposing counsel
  • Work with external counsel in developing a litigation strategy for claims in litigation
  • Oversee and provide direction to external counsel
  • Attend mediations and settlement conferences
  • Conduct legal research, analysis and file review
  • Organize and maintain active files in proper order for examining and reserve review
  • Provide direction to claims adjusters in handling of claims should an external adjuster be retained
  • Maintaining detailed on-line diary notes

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience handling commercial casualty insurance claims
  • Strong analytical, assessment, decision-making, and organizational skills
  • Familiar with Windows and Microsoft 365 software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Ability to balance investigative requirements with customer service expectations

  • Must be self-motivated, team player with a positive attitude
  • Completion of or working towards CIP or CRM designations an asset
