Position Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our Azure cloud environment. There is a heavy focus on automation and infrastructure as code. This is an opportunity to be the organization’s subject matter expert in this area and drive innovation. As such, you have a deep understanding and experience with cloud computing, Azure services, and DevOps methodologies.
We have a significant Azure virtual desktop deployment so experience designing and managing AVD deployments is a big plus.
Our ideal candidate is cool under pressure, an expert problem solver, highly motivated, a team player but also able to work independently, and is someone that is constantly looking for ways to make improvements and isn’t afraid to bring those suggestions forward.
Position: Senior Azure Architect / DevOps Engineer
Position Status: Permanent, Full-time
Department: Information Technology
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, stable, highly available, and fault-tolerant Azure infrastructure solutions.
- Identify appropriate use of Azure operational best practices and architectural design.
- Conduct system analysis for performance and capacity planning.
- Perform cost estimation and identify mechanisms for cost control and containment.
- Implement controls around data flow.
- Selecting appropriate Azure services based on data, computing, and security requirements.
- Design and implement solutions to ensure disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Develop and implement CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
- Automate tasks through scripting and other appropriate tools.
- Ensure security and compliance with Azure policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting to resolve infrastructure related issues.
- Collaborate with software developers to optimize application performance.
- Stay updated with the latest trends in Azure services and DevOps methodologies.
- Document and maintain Azure environment configurations and custom scripts.
- Provide assistance and mentoring to other IT team members.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as an Azure Architect / DevOps Engineer.
- Experience designing, building and operating Azure cloud infrastructures.
- Expert level skills with Azure cloud services and DevOps practices.
- High level of skill and experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- High level of skill and experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or ARM templates.
- Solid understanding of network architectures and services (e.g. VPN, routing, firewall, etc.).
- Knowledge of containers and orchestration services.
- Proficiency in using Git for version control.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Experience designing, deploying, and managing an Azure Virtual Desktop environment.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):
- Experience with Windows Server, Microsoft SQL server, Active Directory, and other server technologies.
- Experience managing network devices and firewalls.
- Experience with low code/no code Azure technologies (e.g. Azure Functions).
- Experience with API integrations and middleware (eg. MuleSoft).
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a relevant field.
- Azure certifications.
- Experience with VoIP and telephony systems.

This is a home office-based position, with some travel for company/sales meetings as well as to client sites. Flexibility to work outside of standard 9am-6pm local time zone hours may be required at times to support this global team.
Target Base Salary: $110,000K-$130,000K (based on experience) plus variable commissions.
