Full job description

Are you a creative and detail-oriented web designer with a passion for WordPress? Zeal Media is looking for a talented Part-Time Web Designer to join our remote team. If you love bringing ideas to life online, have a knack for design, and want to work on diverse projects, we want to hear from you!

  • Location: Saskatoon or Remote (Canada)
  • Term: Part Time (20-40 hrs/week), working toward Full Time
  • Wage: $20 - 25/hr based on experience & skill

Must Haves

  • Extensive WordPress design experience with a portfolio of recently designed websites (10+).
  • WooCommerce setup & management. Knowledge of payment integration.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles and best practices.
  • Great understanding of SEO principles as they apply to web design.
  • Excellent communication and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • MUST have your own laptop or computer with fast internet access.
  • MUST live in Canada

Get Noticed

The skills or past experience in this section will get you noticed.

  • Online Marketing Techniques & SEO.
  • Experience with other CMS platforms such as Drupal or Joomla.
  • Competency and proficiency with Adobe Suite of software. Specifically Photoshop & Illustrator.
  • MySQL Databases, PHP / Javascript knowledge.
  • Video Editing (Adobe Premiere).
  • Technical knowledge of cPanel, including editing DNS records and setting up email accounts.
  • Building ads and campaigns for Facebook ads, Google Ads, etc.
  • Self-starter, self-motivated, self-learner.
  • Experience with SEO software tools like aHrefs, SEMRush, Screaming Spider and Google webmaster tools.

Job Responsibilities

Below is a list of standard job responsibilities, but is not limited to:

  • Design website mockups using Photoshop or similar software.
  • Design WordPress and WooCommerce websites based on mockup and research.
  • Customize WordPress themes and plugins as needed to meet client requirements.
  • Optimize websites for performance, speed, and SEO.
  • Setup website security, perform updates, upgrades and backups.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Follow company guidelines, processes and protocol.
  • Use company CRM software to manage projects and provide support for customers.
