Full job description

Qualitest, a global manufacturer of materials testing and quality control instruments, is seeking a Junior–Intermediate Service & Electrical Technician to join our growing technical team.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a versatile technician interested in electrical systems, certification compliance, and laboratory instrumentation.

Applicants must currently reside within approximately 15 km of Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
  • Perform electrical modifications and internal wiring changes to support CSA, UL, and SPE-1000 certification
  • Assist with repair, calibration, troubleshooting, and technical inspection of testing instruments
  • Support instrument commissioning, internal testing, and final technical checks
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and service activities
  • Document service work and electrical changes clearly
  • Occasionally travel (up to 20%) for installations, service, or calibration
  • Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams

Qualifications

  • Diploma or technical education in Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, or Instrumentation
  • 1–3 years of hands-on technical experience (lab, industrial, OEM, or service environment)
  • Ability to work with control panels, sensors, motors, and electromechanical systems
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to learn
  • Good written and verbal English
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Assets:
Experience with CSA, UL, SPE-1000, calibration, or laboratory equipment
