CMCC is currently looking for outstanding individuals to join our roster of Timesheet Faculty. The successful candidate(s) must be able to teach labs in the Clinical Diagnosis, Chiropractic Therapeutics, Chiropractic Principles and Clinical Education departments. They will be placed on a roster, and contacted in advance of the day that coverage is required.
SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TUTOR:
The successful candidate will follow the learning objectives and assessment process as set in the course outline to engage all students in the learning process.
Tutors make contributions to the program through participation in approved educational activities including course and departmental meetings. In addition, they follow teaching outlines set out by Course Coordinator’s for the Laboratory (Lab) or Small Group sessions. The primary responsibilities of a Tutor are:
1. Teaching and preparation:
- Communicate with the course coordinator to obtain knowledge and a thorough understanding of expectations for students, including their evaluation.
- Access and review prepared course(s) materials including tutor manual (if one exists) prior to each session posted on the LMS.
- Follow course coordinator’s course outlines and learning outcomes.
- Participate in course evaluation and development as needed.
- Demonstrate a solid knowledge of relevant course content and maintain currency in this subject area as well as best practices in teaching and learning.
- Model appropriate professional behaviors including honoring course time commitments, engaging in effective interpersonal communication, accessing CMCC communications and adherence to CMCC policies and standards.
- Communicate learning outcomes and assessment strategies to students.
- Facilitates Small Group and/or Laboratory Sessions (Years I through III), founded in current evidence-based teaching (EBT) methods.
- Improves or modifies personal teaching style based on peer feedback and student evaluations.
- Follows the course outline and course objectives provided by the Course Coordinator.
- Attend meetings called by the course coordinator at regular times over the academic year.
- Promotes meaningful discussions and responds to student questions constructively.
- Ensures pace and scope of student learning is congruent with course and/or departmental expectations.
- Provide input into the course as it evolves.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of every tutorial group session.
2. Lab or Small Group Session planning:
- Facilitate student learning in a Lab or Small Group Session.
- Guide learners to attain learning objectives.
- Complete assessment processes set out for the course.
- Engage students within the group in a constructive learning process.
3. Assessment:
- Provide timely and regular performance feedback to students individually or in a group setting.
- Assess students and participate in grading assignments using appropriate strategies and tools for evaluating student learning, as required and instructed by Course Coordinator.
- Be familiar with appropriate evaluation tools and their use.
- May contribute to assessment questions by providing feedback to the Course Coordinator, when appropriate.
4. Perform other duties as required including:
- Attends/participates in faculty meetings, professional development programs and institutional functions.
- Reviews and adheres to CMCC policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Doctor of Chiropractic designation from an accredited institution.
- Masters degree or Fellowship preferred.
- Preference for 3 years clinical experience.
Or
Completion of Residency program. - Preference given to candidates with Myofascial Release Therapy experience.
- TEP completion within one (1) year timeframe stipulated by CMCC or an audit of the current version of the course if previously completed more than 10 yrs.
- Completion of Evidence Based Practice modules within the one (1) timeframe stipulated by CMCC.
- Must be an active member in good standing with the CCO and have no notices of Professional Conduct on the public record, member of the relevant provincial association (OCA), and CCA.
- Must have current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C.
- Demonstrates the principles of evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrates evidence of practicing ethical practice building strategies.
- Experience conducting classroom or clinical instruction based upon the course learning objectives preferred
- Computer literacy required.
- Must have knowledge of and experience in using Zoom.
- Mentoring experience preferred.
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Critical and analytical thinker.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Models CMCC core values of Communication, Accountability, Respect, Innovation, Nurturing & Growth (‘CARING’).
- Preference will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated successful track record in their current role, as measured by tenure, reviews, adherence to best pedagogical practice, attendance and punctuality.
This is a unionized position and preference will be given to candidates who are current members of the bargaining unit.
