Vacancy Status: Newly created role

TriCert Investment Counsel was founded over 25 years ago by two visionary accountants who recognized their clients could be better served by providing a sound, disciplined investment management approach alongside the integration of trusted accounting expertise into financial planning and wealth optimization. Today, we proudly manage over $3 billion in assets on behalf of thousands of clients. Our QSect approach matches a client’s investment profile with a tailored portfolio designed to meet their goals and provide peace of mind through volatile markets.

Seamlessly working with your accountant and financial planner, your portfolio manager takes a holistic view of your financial affairs, aligning your investment plan with your tax and financial plans. Your financial plan’s goals serve as our benchmark to build portfolios that let you sleep soundly, optimize tax efficiency and deliver results.

TriCert Investment Counsel is registered as a Portfolio Manager with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) in Ontario, its principal regulator, and with each relevant securities administrator in all other jurisdictions across Canada. TriCert Investment Counsel Inc. is registered as an Investment Fund Manager in Ontario. A proud member of the Portfolio Management Association of Canada.

Taking a holistic view of your financial affairs, together with your tax plan, financial plan, and broader financial landscape, we tailor solutions unique to you. Your financial plan’s goals serve as our benchmark to build portfolios that let you sleep soundly, optimize tax efficiency and deliver results.

TriCert Financial Group, a division of TriCert Investment Counsel, is seeking a Data Intelligence Lead, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role that will build and maintain the data foundation powering our integrated wealth management, investment management, insurance, and accounting and tax-informed financial planning strategy. This role turns fragmented data from multiple enterprise systems into structured, governed, and actionable intelligence — delivering dashboards, opportunity models, predictive indicators, and AI-enabled workflows across all business areas. A central priority is contributing to the TriCert Intelligence Platform, connecting our portfolio management, CRM, insurance, and document systems through a unified data layer and AI agent infrastructure to power next-generation client and advisor intelligence.

We are looking for a builder — technically strong, commercially curious, and hungry to grow with a firm in an ambitious scaling phase. You will own the data development, analytics, and modelling work, partnering directly with stakeholders to turn business needs into practical solutions, while working alongside our existing data warehouse and BI team, with direct exposure to senior leadership. If you want ownership, meaningful scope, and a visible footprint on how a $4B+ wealth management firm uses its data, this role is for you.

Why join our team?

  • Flexible hybrid work environment
  • Competitive compensation and profit sharing
  • Extended health, dental and vision benefits
  • Professional development support, including paid designations and training

Key Areas of Responsibility:

1. Data Development & Modelling

  • Build and maintain scalable data structures and pipelines spanning wealth management, investment management, insurance, CRM, billing, document management, and operational systems
  • Build reusable data models, transformation logic, mappings, reporting datasets, and documented data flows across all TriCert systems
  • Extract, collate, clean, normalize, and structure data from multiple source systems; ensure quality, consistency, and completeness

2. Intelligence Platform & AI Integration

  • Build the data and integration layer of the TriCert Intelligence Platform, connecting portfolio management, CRM, insurance, and operational systems through a unified data layer
  • Design and build AI agent workflows using Azure AI Foundry and Copilot Studio to deliver advisor intelligence, client opportunity signals, and operational automation across Dynamics 365 and connected platforms

3. Analytics & Insight Generation

  • Build dashboards, scorecards, reports, and analytical models for business users and senior leadership.
  • Develop opportunity-identification models and segmentation frameworks using client, household, investment, tax, insurance, and CRM data to drive commercial outcomes
  • Apply data mining techniques to uncover patterns, trends, and signals across TriCert’s data environment; support forecasting, predictive indicators, and advisor effectiveness and business performance insights

4. Data Governance & Quality

  • Define and enforce data ownership, access controls, lineage, documentation standards, and quality expectations across TriCert’s data environment
  • Implement governance tooling using Microsoft Purview, sensitivity labels, DLP, and audit logging; validate outputs for accuracy, explainability, and appropriate use

5. Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

  • Ensure data practices align with Canadian regulatory requirements including PIPEDA, OSC and CIRO guidance, and NI 31-103 obligations relevant to client data handling
  • Apply privacy-aware design principles across all data models, workflows, and reporting environments handling sensitive client and financial information

6. Stakeholder Partnership

  • Work directly with wealth management, insurance, operations, compliance, technology, and senior leadership to gather requirements, deliver usable data solutions, and translate complex data concepts into business value

Required Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data development, analytics engineering, or business intelligence, with demonstrated ownership of solutions from design through delivery
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot, DAX, Power BI (Service, Dataflows, Paginated Reports), and data modelling, ETL/ELT design, relational databases, data mapping and transformation
  • Strong understanding of relational databases, data mapping, transformation logic, and data quality management
  • Demonstrated ability to work with fragmented, imperfect, and inconsistently structured data from real-world enterprise systems
  • Ability to connect data insights and data mining outputs to commercial, client, and operational outcomes; translate technical models into clear business value for non-technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working independently in an ambiguous, evolving environment with competing priorities and minimal handholding

The following experience/skills would be considered strong assets:

  • Data platforms: Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse), Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Dataverse, Microsoft Graph, APIs
  • Automation and business apps: Power Automate, Power Apps, Dynamics 365
  • Governance and privacy tooling: Microsoft Purview, sensitivity labels, DLP, audit logging, access controls, data lineage
  • Advanced analytics and data mining: segmentation models, opportunity models, predictive indicators, pattern recognition across structured data
  • Background in financial services, wealth management, insurance, accounting, tax, investment management, or professional services
  • Familiarity with portfolio management, insurance management, CRM, billing, and document management platforms
  • Experience creating opportunity models, segmentation models, data mining workflows, or predictive analytics in a regulated environment
  • Exposure to AI/ML workflows, LLM integration, or intelligent automation in an enterprise context
  • AI and intelligent automation: Azure AI Foundry, Copilot Studio, AI Builder, Azure Functions, Logic Apps
