Full job description

Position Title: Security Manager - Casino Victoria


Position Summary:
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Security Manager is responsible for the overall management and effectiveness of security operations at Casino Victoria. Implement all new security strategic plans as directed, provide a learning and mentoring environment for the security team, while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members. Additionally the Security Manager will develop performance objectives and deliver performance evaluations and will actively participate in the recruitment and hiring process.


Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership, direction and mentoring to the security team
  • Implement strategic plans and security related initiatives as directed
  • Monitor the site security budget; report variances; make recommendations where necessary
  • Respond to and resolve security issues as escalated
  • Oversee playing card inventories, deliveries, pick-ups and defacement or delegate as required
  • Oversee various critical security systems (e.g., Key Control, WINPAC, SIMS, Threat Management System)
  • Required to work on the gaming floor for at least three shifts per work week
  • Prepare and maintain site specific tactical responses to emergency events; prepare evacuation checklists; administer evacuations
  • Review reports on violations, unsafe conditions, potential hazards, suspicious persons and activities and other reports as requested
  • Oversee the First Aid Program & participate as a productive Joint Occupational Health & Safety Member
  • Lead the Site Responsible Gaming Program
  • Conduct ongoing site risk assessments; identify opportunities for efficiencies
  • Develop and cultivate strong working relationships with all stakeholders
  • Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Conduct training for security operations; recommend training opportunities and efficiencies
  • Provide superior customer service satisfaction to all guests
  • Performing other duties as assigned


Education and Qualification Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Criminology or suitable combination of education and experience an asset
  • 2 years of Security Management experience preferably in a gaming or highly regulated environment
  • Ability to obtain a Gaming Worker Registration with Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO)
  • Valid Serving-It-Right Certificate, or ability to obtain a Serving-It-Right Certification through Responsible Service BC
  • Must have functional knowledge of AML and BCLC guidelines that have been established to comply with the regulatory requirements and policies and procedures
  • Valid Basic Security Training, Gaming Security Officer Training
  • Occupation First Aid Level 2 an asset
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Follow all applicable IGCO, BCLC, and HR policies related to the role
  • Computer Literacy in MS Office


Work Environment Considerations

  • Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables; exposure to some conflict, distress and noise
  • Role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, will have non-traditional work hours including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Role is designated as a safety-sensitive position due to the requirement for constant situational awareness, rapid judgment, and direct involvement in safety and security operations.
  • Role expected to handle incidents involving conflict, disruption, or potential harm, employing approved de-escalation methods to minimize risk to individuals and property.
