Full job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Timber Framer / Carpenter to join our prefabrication shop specializing in high-end timberframe and mass timber projects. Our work demands exceptional craftsmanship, precision, and attention to detail. We take pride in producing some of the finest timber structures in the industry and are looking for individuals who share our commitment to quality.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate has several years experience in a timberframe or mass timber shop environment and is capable of independently managing complex projects from start to finish. We require proven ability to read shop drawings, complete layouts, perform cutting and joinery, test fit assemblies, and deliver finished work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret and execute work from detailed shop drawings.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, including communication and coordination with the Project Manager.
  • Complete project layout, cutting, test fitting, and finishing to a high standard.
  • Ensure all work meets quality and accuracy standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee carpenters and labourers as required to maintain workflow and project schedules.
  • Identify and resolve production issues while maintaining efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Work independently and collaboratively to meet production deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Multi-year schooling in timberframe/mass timber specific disciplines.
  • Several years experience in timberframe construction, mass timber fabrication, or high-quality carpentry and millwork.
  • Familiarity with traditional timber joinery and modern mass timber systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings accurately.
  • Strong layout, joinery, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
  • Experience with timber CNC fabrication an asset.
  • Experience with Cadwork an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned projects.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Reliable, motivated, and professional.
  • References are required.
